Panerai’s Luminor Forged Titanium PAM01629 is a 100-piece limited edition that takes one of the brand’s most recognizable case shapes and gives it a more technical, less conventional skin.
The basic ingredients are unmistakably Luminor: a 47 mm cushion case, the signature crown-protection bridge, a hand-wound movement, and a dial built for immediate legibility.
A 47 mm Luminor Without the Usual Steel Heft
The PAM01629 is still a large watch, but the use of titanium changes how that size lands on the wrist.
Panerai says the titanium construction makes the case around 40 percent lighter than an equivalent steel model, which matters when the watch measures a full 47 mm across.
The crown guard, lever, bezel and case middle are all titanium, so the lighter feel is not limited to one component.
Forged Titanium With a One-Off Surface Character
The case is made from forged titanium, created by heating and hammering two grades of the metal together before finishing the surface to reveal its natural striations.
That process gives each example a slightly different pattern, so the PAM01629 has a degree of individuality that is unusual for a serially produced Panerai.
The grey case works well with the anthracite sun-brushed dial, while beige Super-LumiNova on the sandwich numerals and hands gives the watch a warmer, more vintage-leaning contrast.
The Hand-Wound P.3000 Inside
Inside is Panerai’s P.3000 calibre, a large manually wound movement that suits the proportions and historical tone of the Luminor case.
The movement offers a three-day power reserve from twin barrels and includes an independently adjustable hour hand, useful for travel or daylight-saving changes without disturbing the minute hand.
Visible through the sapphire caseback, the P.3000 keeps the finishing restrained, with brushed bridges, polished jewel sinks, bevelled edges and perlage on the baseplate.
Water Resistance and Tool-Watch Details
The PAM01629 is rated to 10 bar, or roughly 100 metres, with Panerai testing each watch beyond its stated guarantee.
The Luminor crown bridge remains more than a visual signature, pressing the crown against its gasket while also shielding it from knocks.

The Luminor Forged Titanium PAM01629 will appeal most to collectors who like Panerai at its most direct, but want something more distinctive than a standard steel case.
It is still bold, legible and unmistakably Panerai, yet the forged titanium gives this limited edition a lighter wrist presence and a surface character that rewards a closer look.
