Oris Gives the Divers Date a Sharper Olive Green Dial

Oris has given its modern Divers Date a new olive green dial, adding a more utilitarian tone to one of the brand’s most approachable dive watches.

The watch keeps the proportions and upgrades introduced with the refreshed collection, so this isn’t a nostalgic colour swap on an older platform.

It’s a compact, steel, everyday diver with vintage cues, stronger specifications and a dial colour that sits comfortably between tool-watch practicality and casual wearability.

The Divers Date traces its look to Oris’s first dive-ready watch from 1965, but the current model is very much the newer interpretation.

After years of the Divers Sixty-Five carrying the vintage-diver brief in countless forms, Oris reworked the formula with a 39mm case, improved materials and a more substantial technical package.

The olive dial is the defining change here, joining the black, steel blue and soft beige versions already in the current Divers Date family.

Its colour leans toward vintage military equipment rather than bright outdoorsy green, which gives the watch a slightly more purposeful character without turning it into a costume piece.

The case and bezel upgrades remain the point

The stainless steel case measures 39mm across, 12.1mm thick and 46.5mm from lug to lug, dimensions that should suit a broad range of wrists.

Compared with the earlier Divers Sixty-Five formula, the modern Divers Date brings a tighter footprint, a thicker middle case and a slimmer caseback profile.

The unidirectional rotating bezel has also been re-engineered for better grip and rigidity.

Its black ceramic insert is a meaningful upgrade for a watch in this vintage-inspired category, especially when many retro divers have traditionally leaned on aluminium for period-correct charm.

A double-domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating sits over the dial, while the screw-down crown helps deliver 200m of water resistance.

The dial keeps the typography introduced with the refreshed Divers Date, giving the model its own visual identity within the wider Oris line-up.

Applied bevelled hour markers are filled with Super-LumiNova, matched by luminous hour and minute hands.

The central seconds hand carries a lumed lollipop element, a small but important detail for maintaining the watch’s vintage-diver personality.

A date window sits at 6 o’clock, keeping the dial balanced while giving the watch the practicality expected from its name.

Oris still has a 40mm green-dial Divers Sixty-Five Date in its broader catalogue, but this new Divers Date is the more modern execution, with the updated case, ceramic bezel and stronger depth rating.

Movement, strap set and positioning

Inside is the Oris calibre 733, an automatic movement derived from the Sellita SW200.

It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, offers a 41-hour power reserve and provides central hours, minutes, hacking seconds and an instantaneous date display.

The movement is visible through a mineral glass exhibition caseback, a feature that keeps the watch connected to Oris’s modern mechanical identity even with its tool-watch styling.

The watch is delivered as a set with a riveted-style stainless steel bracelet and an additional black rubber strap.

Both use the quick-change system introduced with the revised collection, making the shift from bracelet to rubber simple enough for daily use rather than a special-occasion strap change.
