Oris has taken one of its most enduring designs and made it smaller, softer and more decorative without turning it into something unfamiliar.
The new Big Crown Pointer Date 29mm brings the 1938-born line into a compact format aimed at smaller wrists, or simply at anyone who prefers vintage proportion over wrist presence.
It keeps the fluted bezel, prominent crown and central pointer-date display, but the details have been rebalanced for a more delicate read.

The Big Crown Pointer Date has long been one of Oris’s clearest signatures, with its aviation-adjacent crown, coin-edge style bezel and central date hand giving it an identity that’s easy to recognise at a glance.
For this 29mm version, Oris has kept those elements intact while changing the mood of the watch.
The multi-piece stainless steel case measures 29mm across, 11.4mm thick and 35.5mm from lug to lug, making it substantially more compact than the larger Big Crown models in the catalogue.
The crown remains a defining feature, though it has been tapered to sit more comfortably and to look a little more ornamental on the smaller case.
A domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating reinforces the vintage character while keeping the dial legible, and the screwed caseback includes a see-through mineral glass window.
Dial details with a softer Pointer Date display
Oris is offering the watch with either a black dial or a rose-gold-coloured dial, both using a layered finish rather than a flat surface.
The centre section has a sunburst finish, while the outer area is grained, giving the small dial more depth and helping the pointer-date scale stand apart.
That date scale has also been made gentler, using a mix of dots and Arabic numerals instead of a heavier full-numeral track.
The central Pointer Date hand keeps the model’s most recognisable complication, but its tip has been reduced in size to suit the smaller proportions.
Skeletonised hour and minute hands add a more refined character, moving the watch slightly away from tool-watch utility and toward a dressier everyday style.

The 29mm Big Crown Pointer Date is powered by the automatic Oris Calibre 534, which uses a Sellita SW 221-1 base.
The movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 42-hour power reserve.
Its functions include central hours, minutes and seconds, an instantaneous date indication, date corrector, fine timing device and stop-seconds function.
Water resistance is rated to 50 metres, which suits the watch’s daily-wear positioning rather than presenting it as a sports watch.
Strap and bracelet options
The collection is made up of four references, combining the two dial colours with either a leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet.
The bracelet version is fitted with a butterfly folding clasp, giving the watch a more integrated and jewellery-like presence on the wrist.
