Oris has added a burgundy dial to the modern Big Crown Pointer Date line, giving the 2025 collection a darker, richer alternative to its lighter colourways.
The shade has appeared recently on a Big Crown partnership model with Cervo Volante, but this new reference places the colour within the cleaner, contemporary design language of the latest collection.
It’s a measured addition rather than a radical one, though for a watch built around everyday wearability, that’s exactly the point.

At a glance
- Oris has introduced the Big Crown Pointer Date Burgundy Ref. 01 754 7798 4038-07 8 20 06.
- The watch uses the updated 2025 Big Crown design with pencil hands, angular numerals and an oxblood red dial.
- It is priced at £1,750, in line with the other 40mm models from the 2025 collection.
A darker shade for the refreshed Big Crown
The new Burgundy model brings Oris’s oxblood red dial into the revised Big Crown Pointer Date family, rather than the more retro-styled Cervo Volante partnership watch.
That distinction matters, because the partnership model uses older Big Crown design cues such as a coin-edge bezel and cathedral hands.
This version belongs to the 2025 update, where Oris has cleaned up the silhouette and made the watch feel more modern without losing the familiar pointer-date identity.

The dial colour is deep and subdued, sitting apart from the brighter red used on the triangular tip of the pointer-date hand.
It also gives the current range a welcome darker option, especially as many of the modern Big Crown Pointer Date colours lean light or pastel.
The updated pilot-watch language
At 40mm in diameter and 12mm thick, the Burgundy reference matches the proportions of the 2025 Big Crown Pointer Date collection.

Those dimensions put it in a practical middle ground for a contemporary pilot-inspired watch, with enough presence to feel purposeful without pushing into oversized territory.
The hands have been simplified into pencil shapes, each with a central strip of lume for low-light legibility.
Oris has also moved to a more angular Arabic numeral style with thicker lines, improving clarity while giving the dial a sharper modern character.
The result is still recognisably a Big Crown Pointer Date, but less nostalgic than the earlier design language.
Calibre 754 and the burgundy detail
Through the exhibition caseback, the watch shows the Oris 754 calibre.
The movement is based on the Sellita SW200-1 and offers a 41-hour power reserve.
The red-decorated rotor is used across the range, but it feels especially at home here because it visually echoes the burgundy dial.
It’s a small detail, though one that gives this reference a little more cohesion than usual.

The Big Crown Pointer Date Burgundy doesn’t try to reinvent one of Oris’s most recognisable lines, but it does give the refreshed collection a stronger, moodier dial option at the same price as its 40mm siblings.
For collectors drawn to the newer Big Crown proportions and typography, this is likely to be the richer-looking choice in the current range.
