Nomos Tetra 27 Returns in Two Sharply Compact New Editions

Nomos has never needed large cases to make its point, and the latest additions to the Tetra line lean into that confidence with unusual clarity.

The new Tetra 27 white and Tetra 27 duo bring the brand’s smallest square format into two clean permanent-collection variants, each with the kind of wrist presence that makes case dimensions feel only partly relevant.

At 27.5mm across and 6.1mm thick, they’re compact by the numbers, but the square geometry gives them a stronger visual footprint than a round watch of similar width.

The Tetra has always been the more architectural side of Nomos, trading the round restraint of the Tangente for a sharper, more graphic silhouette.

Here, the polished stainless steel case is pared back but not plain, with narrow framing around the dial and double-stepped lugs that add a subtle Art Deco note.

The dimensions are deliberately modest, but square watches wear differently from round ones because they occupy more surface area at the same width.

That matters here, since the Tetra 27 is intended to feel refined rather than tiny.

Both models use a sapphire crystal and offer the choice of either a solid steel caseback or a sapphire display back.

Water resistance is rated to 50 metres, which is practical enough for a watch this slim and dress-oriented.

Two dial treatments with familiar Nomos restraint

The Tetra 27 white is the more traditional of the pair, with a galvanised, white silver-plated dial, black Arabic numerals and markers, blued steel hands and a small seconds display.

Its dial language is unmistakably Nomos, carrying the same typographic discipline that has long defined the brand’s most recognisable watches.

One notable distinction is the small seconds layout, which uses a flat, round sub-dial rather than the recessed square counter associated with the long-running larger Tetra.

The Tetra 27 duo takes a quieter route with a two-hand display and a white-and-grey silver-plated dial.

A light grey square sits at the centre, while a matching grey field frames the minute track, giving the watch more depth without adding visual weight.

Both versions use tempered blue hands, a small detail that keeps the watches from becoming too austere.

The DUW 4001 keeps the case slim

Inside the Tetra 27 models is the hand-wound Calibre DUW 4001, with the DUW 4001 duo used for the two-hand model.

The movement is an updated evolution of Nomos’ long-serving Alpha calibre, now with a three-quarter plate, decorative finishing and the brand’s in-house Swing system with blue hairspring.

It runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a 53-hour power reserve, a useful improvement for a manually wound watch that may not be worn every day.

The Tetra 27 white also includes stop-seconds functionality, allowing more precise setting.

Finishing includes Glashütte ribbing, perlage, blued screws and a double-sunburst ratchet wheel, which makes the sapphire-back option especially tempting.

Permanent collection pricing and positioning

Both watches are fitted to a black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap with a steel pin buckle.

The Tetra 27 duo is priced from EUR 1,660 with a steel caseback and EUR 1,880 with a sapphire caseback.

The Tetra 27 white is priced at EUR 1,900 with a steel caseback and EUR 2,120 with a sapphire caseback.

Rather than feeling like a reaction to the current appetite for smaller watches, these models sit naturally within the Nomos catalogue.

The brand has spent decades proving that a compact watch can still have a strong design identity, and the Tetra 27 may be one of the clearest expressions of that idea.
