Mido’s latest Día de los Muertos watch moves the celebration into one of the brand’s most recognisable modern cases.
The 2026 Multifort TV Big Date Día de los Muertos Alebrijes pairs the rounded-square Multifort TV profile with a dial built around colour, folklore and glow-in-the-dark detail.
It’s also the first time Mido has used the Multifort TV platform for its annual Día de los Muertos theme, making this a more playful turn for the collection without changing the watch’s practical sports-watch foundation.

Alebrijes enter the Multifort TV case
Mido has marked Día de los Muertos with special editions since 2020, drawing on the Mexican tradition’s balance of remembrance, symbolism and vivid decoration.
For 2026, the visual language centres on Alebrijes, the fantastical creatures associated with Mexican artist Pedro Linares, who began creating hybrid animal figures in the 1930s.
On the watch, those creatures surround a central calavera, giving the dial a layered composition that feels much more illustrative than a conventional patterned finish.

The case remains the familiar Multifort TV form, measuring 40mm by 39.2mm, with a 46.85mm lug-to-lug span and 11.5mm thickness.
It’s made in stainless steel with satin-finished and polished surfaces across a three-part construction, while a sandblasted dot at 12 o’clock adds a small but distinctive orientation cue.
A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides sits over the dial, while the transparent back shows the automatic movement.

The screw-down crown is protected by guards, and water resistance is rated to 100 metres.
A luminous calavera dial with a discreet joke
The dial uses a grey-to-black gradient as a backdrop for the calavera and Alebrijes artwork.
The creatures are engraved in negative relief, with selected areas finished using 12 lacquers and three colours of Super-LumiNova.

That lume treatment is where the watch becomes most animated, as the skull and surrounding creatures reveal themselves in a different register after dark.
The big date at 12 o’clock brings the Multifort TV’s signature complication into the theme with a small wink, as the numeral one is shaped like a bone.
Applied hour markers appear at 3 and 9 o’clock, while the remaining round markers are recessed and treated with Super-LumiNova.

The diamond-cut, faceted hour and minute hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova, while the flat central seconds hand and minute track on the inclined inner flange remain without lume.
Calibre 80 and three ways to wear it
Inside is Mido’s Calibre 80, an automatic movement using the ETA C07.651 base with a big date indication.
It runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour, uses a Nivachron balance spring and is adjusted in three positions.

The power reserve is up to 80 hours, which remains one of the strongest everyday arguments for Mido’s modern automatic watches at this price level.
The oscillating weight is decorated with Côtes de Genève and the Mido logo, visible through the caseback.
Mido includes three interchangeable options with the watch, all using quick-change lug bars.

There is an integrated-style stainless-steel bracelet with a folding clasp, a stainless-steel Milanese mesh bracelet with a sliding clasp and a textured red rubber strap with a pin buckle.
That trio gives the watch unusually broad range, shifting it from steel sports watch to lighter mesh bracelet piece to a more overtly festive red-strapped version.

The Multifort TV Big Date Día de los Muertos Alebrijes works because Mido hasn’t treated the theme as a simple colour swap.

It keeps the useful proportions, 100-metre rating and long-running automatic movement of the regular Multifort TV, then adds a dial with enough craft, humour and cultural specificity to make the special edition feel genuinely distinct.
