Mercedes-AMG G 63 Mirage Edition Turns Gulf Light Into a Limited G-Class

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 has never needed much help standing out, but the Mirage Edition gives the familiar square-shouldered icon a distinctly regional character.

Created for the GCC market and limited to just 35 examples, it uses Mercedes-Benz’s MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure programme to translate Gulf landscapes into paint, trim and cabin detailing.

The Mirage Edition sits in that increasingly important space where luxury car personalisation becomes a regional design statement.

Rather than changing the G-Class formula, Mercedes-AMG has concentrated on finish, colour and detail, which is often where special editions of this kind either succeed or feel overdone.

Here, the centrepiece is MANUFAKTUR Verde Silver Magno, a matte green-silver finish developed to catch light differently across the G 63’s flat planes and upright bodywork.

It’s a clever choice for the G-Class because the design gives paint nowhere to hide.

On the bonnet, doors and exposed hinges, the colour can read cooler and more metallic, while the green undertone gives it a quieter link to coastal water and oasis vegetation.

Bilingual details and Tech Gold Matte accents

The exterior treatment is built around bespoke side strips carrying a mirrored Mirage Edition script in English and Arabic.

It’s a small detail in physical scale, but a significant one in tone, giving the edition a sense of place without turning the vehicle into a graphic exercise.

Tech Gold Matte ties together the side strips, spare-wheel back plate and 22-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels.

The finish also works neatly against the black AMG brake calipers and the darker elements of the AMG Night Package II, adding warmth without softening the G 63’s performance stance.

As ever with the G-Class, the spare wheel remains part of the design rather than an afterthought, and the Mirage Edition uses that rear-mounted canvas well.

A cabin with coastal and oasis tones

Inside, the Mirage Edition continues the regional theme through a more restrained palette than the exterior badging might suggest.

Buyers can choose from three MANUFAKTUR interior colours, with Macchiato Beige, Sage Grey and Platinum White offered for the cabin.

The specification includes a full leather package, a two-tone nappa instrument panel, black running boards, a black MANUFAKTUR logo package and a cherry-wood floor for the luggage compartment.

One of the more personal touches is the passenger grab handle, a signature G-Class feature that has been made in MANUFAKTUR open-pore grey oak wood for this edition.

It carries the Mirage Edition designation and the edition volume in Cream White lettering, turning a familiar interior component into the most obvious marker of ownership.

AMG performance remains central

The Mirage Edition may be defined by its regional design language, but it remains a full AMG G 63 underneath.

Power comes from the handcrafted AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, built under the “One Man, One Engine” philosophy.

Output is listed at 430 kW, or 585 hp, with 850 Nm of torque, supported by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with EQ Boost.

The drivetrain pairs the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission with AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive.

AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension is also part of the package, helping balance the G 63’s road comfort with the off-road ability expected of the nameplate.
