Longines has given one of its more characterful heritage pieces a softer, more contemporary face.
The Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve now comes with a light-blue opaline dial, bringing a cooler tone to a watch best known for its unusual central power reserve display.
It’s still a deeply vintage-minded Longines, but the new colour shifts the mood away from strict mid-century formality and into something easier to wear day to day.

The Conquest line has unusual weight inside the Longines catalogue, having been the first collection name the brand officially registered with the Swiss Federal Intellectual Property Office.
Since its debut in 1954, Conquest has carried a practical brief, balancing daily wear with a polished Swiss sensibility.
The Central Power Reserve version reaches into a more eccentric corner of that history.
Its inspiration comes from the 1959 Conquest ref. 9028, a watch that placed the power reserve indication at the centre of the dial using rotating discs rather than a conventional sub-display.
On this latest model, the light-blue opaline finish gives the design breathing room.
The colour works especially well with the applied rhodium-plated faceted hour markers and luminous skyscraper-style hands, creating a period shape without making the whole watch feel sepia-toned.
A trapezoid-framed date window remains at 12 o’clock, preserving one of the more recognisable visual signatures of the modern re-edition.
How the central power reserve works
The centre of the dial is still the reason this watch stands apart from conventional dress watches.
Longines uses two rotating discs to show the remaining energy in the mainspring, with a black baton-shaped indicator reading against the graduated display.
As the watch is wound or charged by wrist movement, the outer scale rotates until the mainspring reaches full tension.
Once the reserve begins to run down, both discs move together, turning the display into a constantly active mechanical element rather than a static decorative flourish.
The scale corresponds to the movement’s 72-hour autonomy, with the dot between 64 and 0 marking the full reserve.
It’s an elegant complication because it’s useful, visually engaging and unmistakably tied to Longines’ own archive.
Case, calibre and wearing options
The stainless steel case measures 38mm across and 12.3mm thick, with a 45.6mm lug-to-lug span that keeps the proportions firmly in wearable territory.
Finishing alternates between satin-brushed and polished surfaces, while the signed crown carries the winged hourglass logo.
A box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides adds vintage profile without the fragility of acrylic.
The screw-down sapphire caseback reveals the Longines calibre L896.5, an automatic movement developed by ETA exclusively for the brand.
It runs at 25,200 vibrations per hour, uses a silicon balance spring for improved resistance to magnetism, and offers 72 hours of power reserve.
Water resistance is rated to 50 metres, which suits the watch’s dress-leaning but daily-capable character.
Longines offers the light-blue model on either a stainless steel bracelet with a double-folding clasp and integrated micro-adjustment system, or a grey alligator leather strap with a heritage-style pin buckle.

The new light-blue edition doesn’t change the premise of the Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve, and that’s a good thing.
It simply gives one of Longines’ most distinctive modern heritage watches a more relaxed visual character, while keeping the mechanical display that makes it genuinely memorable.
