Jaguar’s electric reinvention now has a production car to put the strategy on the road.
The Type 01 is a four-seat grand tourer with the kind of presence that won’t be mistaken for anything else in the segment, and it also becomes the most powerful road car Jaguar has built.
For a brand with a deep grand touring lineage, this is a deliberately sharp turn rather than a quiet evolution.

At a glance
- Jaguar has revealed the production Type 01, an electric four-seat grand tourer with 1016 hp.
- The car uses three electric motors, rear-axle steering, active aerodynamics and a 118 kWh battery pack.
- Jaguar claims 0 to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and up to 450 miles of WLTP range.
A concept-like shape headed for the road
The production Type 01 keeps the assertive styling language previewed by the concept, which is likely to be the car’s most discussed quality before anyone mentions the powertrain.
It has a broad rectangular front fascia, slim LED headlights, a blacked-out lower bumper and a high shoulder line that gives the body a heavy, planted stance.
Flush-fitting door handles and a sloping roofline help clean up the side profile, while the 23-inch wheels underline the scale of the car.

At more than 17 feet long, the Type 01 is a large grand tourer, but rear-axle steering helps keep the turning circle to a quoted 37.7 feet.
Active aerodynamics are part of the package, with movable vanes at the front and a retractable rear spoiler managing airflow when required.
A minimalist cabin with a neo-retro touch
Inside, Jaguar has taken a restrained approach rather than filling the dashboard with screens.

The cabin uses a simple dashboard layout, a 7.0-inch vertical touchscreen in the centre, a wide digital driver information display and a two-spoke steering wheel.
All four occupants get 12-way adjustable seats, reinforcing the Type 01’s role as a long-distance electric GT rather than a low-slung two-seat performance car.
The result is a cabin that appears to lean on proportion and space rather than visual clutter, which suits the grand touring brief.

Tri-motor power and long-distance range
The Type 01 uses three electric motors, with two driving the rear axle and one powering the front.
Total output is rated at 1016 hp and 1007 lb-ft of torque, making this the most powerful road-going Jaguar to date.
Jaguar quotes a 0 to 62 mph time of 3.2 seconds, which places the Type 01 firmly in high-performance EV territory despite its size and four-seat layout.

The 118 kWh battery pack delivers a claimed maximum range of 450 miles on the WLTP cycle.
Five drive modes are available, named Jaguar, Dynamic, Efficient, Ice & Snow and Curated.
