IWC has given the Ingenieur Automatic 35 one of its lightest, most seasonal personalities yet.
The new version introduces a dial colour called “Pool,” a clear aquatic blue that changes the mood of the watch without changing the architecture that makes the Ingenieur instantly recognisable.
For a collection so closely tied to Gérald Genta’s late-1970s language of integrated steel sports watches, that restraint matters.

The “Pool” shade brings out the relief of the Ingenieur’s signature grid-like pattern, giving the surface a stronger sense of depth as it catches the light.
It’s a clever update because the case, bracelet and overall profile remain familiar, while the watch feels noticeably more relaxed on the wrist.
The tone sits comfortably in summer-watch territory, but it doesn’t push the Ingenieur into novelty territory.
Genta lines and integrated steel
The Ingenieur’s character still comes from its compact steel form and integrated bracelet, both central to the model’s appeal.
At 35 mm, this version leans into wearability without losing the visual strength of the design.
The bezel is secured by five functional screws, a detail that continues to anchor the watch in its industrial sports-watch heritage.
Rhodium-plated hands and hour markers keep the dial crisp, with Super-LumiNova added for visibility in low light.

Inside is IWC’s automatic Calibre 47110, visible through a transparent case back.
The movement is decorated with Côtes de Genève and fitted with a gold oscillating weight, adding a more traditional watchmaking view to a design better known for its architectural exterior.
It runs at 4 Hz and offers approximately 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound.
Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, giving the watch practical everyday capability to match its aquatic dial colour.
