Hublot has introduced the Spirit of Big Bang Essential Taupe, a pair of online exclusive limited editions that bring the brand’s muted annual colour treatment to its tonneau-shaped collection.
The release comes in two distinct formats, with a compact 32mm automatic model in stainless steel and a larger 42mm chronograph in titanium.
Taupe shifts into the Spirit of Big Bang case
Essential Taupe first appeared as a restrained take on the Classic Fusion, and its move into the Spirit of Big Bang changes the character of the colour considerably.

The tonneau case gives the shade more architecture to play against, especially with Hublot’s familiar mix of brushed and polished surfaces, visible screws and integrated strap profile.
Rather than softening the Spirit of Big Bang completely, the taupe treatment makes the case design feel more measured and less overtly technical.
The 32mm model keeps the formula compact
The Spirit of Big Bang Essential Taupe 32mm is the cleaner of the two watches, with a stainless steel case measuring 32mm wide and 10.8mm thick.

Its sunray-brushed taupe dial uses broad angular markers, central hours, minutes and seconds, a peripheral minute track and a date aperture at 6 o’clock.
Inside is Hublot’s HUB1120 automatic calibre, running at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 40-hour power reserve.
The watch is fitted to a taupe rubber and fabric strap, offers 100 metres of water resistance and is limited to 200 pieces.

The 42mm chronograph brings more texture
The larger Spirit of Big Bang Essential Taupe 42mm Chronograph uses titanium, a sensible material choice for a watch that measures 42mm across and 14.1mm thick.
Its dial is more animated than the 32mm version, using Hublot’s carbon stamped motif with alternating brushed and polished squares across the taupe surface.
The chronograph layout is a tricompax arrangement with a 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter and small seconds, joined by central hour and minute hands plus a central chronograph seconds hand.

The calibre is the HUB4700 automatic, a high-beat movement running at 36,000 vibrations per hour with a 50-hour power reserve.
Limited numbers and online-only sales
Both Essential Taupe Spirit of Big Bang models are limited to 200 pieces each and are being sold as online exclusives.
The 32mm stainless steel model is priced at £11,700, while the 42mm titanium chronograph is priced at £19,500.
This is Hublot at one of its more controlled settings, best suited to collectors who like the Spirit of Big Bang shape but want it in a quieter, more wearable colourway.
