The Hamilton Khaki Field Murph has always carried more narrative weight than the average field watch.
Its connection to Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar gave it cult status, but the 38mm version is where the design became genuinely easy to wear for more wrists.
Now Hamilton has added a deep blue dial to the compact Murph, giving the familiar steel case a richer and slightly moodier character.

At a glance
- Hamilton has introduced a deep blue dial version of the Khaki Field Murph 38mm.
- The dial has a grainy texture with a blue-to-near-black effect, paired with beige numerals and cathedral-style hands.
- It is priced at EUR 995 on leather and EUR 1,045 on a steel bracelet.
A cinematic field watch in a more familiar shade
The Murph’s story is well known among modern Hamilton fans, beginning as a prop watch made for Interstellar before becoming a regular production model in 2019.
That first production version measured 42mm, while the 38mm case that followed in 2022 made the watch feel closer to the proportions many buyers expect from a classic field watch.
This new blue version keeps the same core architecture, including a stainless steel case measuring 38mm across, 11.1mm thick and 44.7mm from lug to lug.

The case mixes brushed and polished finishing, with curved lugs and a large crown that keep the personality practical rather than overly polished.
Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, which suits the Murph’s everyday, field-watch brief.
The textured blue dial changes the mood
The dial is the important shift here, and it does more than simply swap one colour for another.

Hamilton has used a deep blue centre that darkens toward the edge, with a pronounced grainy surface that changes with the light.
It’s not a bright, glossy blue in the usual sense.
The effect moves between blue and almost black, which gives the watch a more restrained feel than many blue-dial sports watches.

The beige printed Arabic numerals, minute track and cathedral-style hands remain key to the Murph identity.
Hamilton connects the dial colour to the journey of an interstellar comet, a fitting touch for a watch whose public profile is still tied to science fiction and space travel.
H-10 movement and everyday proportions
Inside is Hamilton’s H-10 automatic movement, the brand’s version of the Swatch Group Powermatic 80 architecture.

It runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers an 80-hour power reserve, making it easy to put down for a weekend and pick up again without resetting.
The movement also uses a Nivachron balance spring, and it can be seen through the sapphire crystal caseback.
Buyers can choose a black leather strap with contrasting stitching or a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp.

The bracelet version will likely appeal to anyone who wants the Murph to feel more like a daily steel watch, while the leather option leans into the model’s vintage field-watch tone.

The blue Murph doesn’t try to reinvent one of Hamilton’s most recognisable modern watches.
Instead, it gives the 38mm model a dial with more atmosphere while keeping the size, movement and utility that made the compact Murph such a strong everyday option.
