Gerald Charles is taking the Masterlink into more decorative territory with a trio of stone-dial editions framed by baguette-set bezels.
The new Masterlink Gem Set Stone Dial watches keep the slim, asymmetric sports-watch architecture that defines the collection, but add natural minerals that make every dial visibly different.
It’s a small-series release with serious craft behind it, particularly because the Masterlink’s shaped dial is far less forgiving than a conventional round stone disc.

The Masterlink shape gets a mineral dial
The Masterlink was launched in 2024 as Gerald Charles’ integrated-bracelet luxury sports watch, carrying the imprint of Gérald Genta’s design language without feeling like a simple archival exercise.
Its case is square in measurement but not in attitude, with an asymmetric outline, a layered bezel and the familiar curved “smile” at 6 o’clock.
That silhouette is central to the appeal of the new editions, but it also makes the stone dials much harder to execute.
Rather than cutting a simple circle from a mineral slice, Gerald Charles has to machine each dial to the Masterlink’s irregular profile before reducing it to just 0.55mm thick.
Natural stone is unpredictable at that scale, so a significant amount of material doesn’t survive the process.
Aventurine, spectrolite and Iron Eye
The three dial options give the collection distinct personalities rather than simple colour variations.
Aventurine brings a deep, starry shimmer, with tiny mineral inclusions catching light across the surface.
Spectrolite, a Finnish variety of labradorite, is more volatile, shifting through flashes of blue, green and gold as the watch moves.
Iron Eye is the most graphic of the trio, combining bands of tiger’s eye, jasper and hematite for a darker, earthier dial with strong natural patterning.
Matching gemstone hour markers tie each dial to the bezel, while semi-openworked baton hands filled with white Super-LumiNova keep the watch legible.
Baguette setting around an asymmetric bezel
The bezel is made from white gold and set with 60 baguette-cut gemstones, offered in blue sapphires, red sapphires or green tsavorites.
On a watch with this case geometry, that setting work is part of the technical story.
Each baguette stone must be cut and positioned to follow the irregular bezel shape, creating a continuous line around a profile that refuses easy symmetry.
The result is more architectural than ornamental, particularly because the case and integrated bracelet keep the strong brushed and polished steel surfaces of the standard Masterlink family.
The bracelet begins with curved links that echo the case’s lower arc before moving into straighter links, with hidden screws and a concealed butterfly clasp preserving the clean visual line.
The ultra-thin GCA5401 calibre
Inside is the automatic calibre GCA5401, a Gerald Charles proprietary design produced exclusively for the brand by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.
The movement is only 2.67mm thick and uses an off-centred unidirectional micro-rotor, helping the complete watch stay at a slim 7.9mm.
It runs at 3Hz, offers a 50-hour power reserve and is visible through the sapphire caseback.
For a gem-set stone-dial watch, the practical specifications remain notably robust, including a screw-down crown and 100 metres of water resistance.
