ENVI Paje has opened on Zanzibar’s Paje Beach, bringing a wellness-led lodge concept to one of the island’s most recognisable stretches of coast.
The retreat is designed for travellers who want more than a pretty beachfront setting, with private villas, restorative treatments, island rituals and active days on the water woven into the stay.
It’s intimate in scale, but the programme is broad, moving from hyperbaric oxygen therapy and botanical spa work to kitesurfing, Swahili cooking workshops and sandbank excursions.

At a glance
- ENVI Paje has officially opened on Paje Beach in Zanzibar as a wellness-focused beachfront lodge.
- The retreat has 22 private villas, including 15 with private pools and two Signature Ocean Villas near the beach.
- Wellbeing is centred on the AFYA philosophy, with tailored spa journeys, mindfulness sessions, ocean activities and locally rooted dining.
A 22-villa hideaway on Paje Beach
ENVI Paje keeps the scale deliberately small, with 22 spacious private villas arranged between garden settings and oceanfront positions.
Fifteen of the villas come with private pools, while guests can choose between more secluded Garden Villas and Ocean Front Villas that open closer to the beach.
The two Signature Ocean Villas sit at the top of the accommodation offering, with private pools that begin inside the villa and extend out to a broad deck facing the turquoise horizon.

The design language leans into Zanzibar rather than trying to overwrite it, using local craftsmanship and cultural detail while keeping the architecture connected to the coastal environment.
AFYA brings science and African botanical wisdom together
The wellbeing programme is built around ENVI Paje’s AFYA philosophy, which focuses on mental and physical restoration through a mix of contemporary therapies and African botanical traditions.
The guest journey begins at The Sanctuary Spa, where practitioners shape a personalised programme around each stay.

A 20-minute Wellness Insight Session uses Anovator technology to assess areas such as balance, recovery and energy, giving therapists a framework for recommended treatments and activities.
Options include Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy, contrast therapy with ice baths and sauna access, and Swahili-inspired botanical treatments.
Those botanical elements are especially tied to the property, with balms and essential oils made in-house by ENVI Paje’s botanist using herbs and spices grown in the resort’s own garden.

Guests can also take part in a balm-making workshop, adding a hands-on layer to the spa experience rather than keeping the rituals behind closed doors.
The daily schedule extends beyond the treatment room with sunrise and sunset yoga on the sand, breathwork, sound healing and Ocean Floating Meditation.
For guests who prefer movement with a little more pace, there’s a Playful Strength Circuit using natural wooden equipment outdoors, along with gym-led Mobility and Posture Workshops aimed at releasing tension and improving alignment.

Ocean sports, island rituals and Zanzibar excursions
Paje is one of Zanzibar’s key kitesurfing spots, and ENVI Paje makes that part of the stay through an in-house kitesurfing school led by certified local instructors.
Sessions are offered for different experience levels, which makes the setting accessible to beginners as well as more confident riders.
The water programme also includes kayaking and SUP yoga, combining stand-up paddleboarding with movement and balance work.

On land, the lodge runs immersive workshops shaped around island food culture, including a Zanzibari chutney-making class, an island pickling workshop and a Swahili tea and golden milk ritual.
Travellers who want to explore beyond the property can book full-day experiences such as snorkelling, sandbank dining, spice farm visits, Stone Town tours and trips to Jozani Forest to see the rare Red Colobus monkeys.
FLŌ anchors the retreat’s food and drink programme
The lodge’s signature restaurant, FLŌ, is built around whole ingredients, seasonal produce and seafood from the surrounding waters.

Swahili culinary heritage shapes the menu, giving the restaurant a strong sense of place without pushing the wellness idea into austerity.
Breakfast has been designed with biohacking principles in mind, with the meal arranged in a sequence intended to support nutrient absorption and help avoid sharp glucose and insulin spikes.
The restaurant opens onto a breezy terrace, keeping the dining experience tied to the rhythm and atmosphere of the island.

Drinks follow a similar path at the Mixology Bar, where botanicals, adaptogens and local flavours are used in functional creations designed to offer both pleasure and targeted benefits.
Guests can also join a Functional Mixology workshop as part of the daily complimentary activities.
Noelle Homsy, co-founder of ENVI Lodges, describes ENVI Paje as “a refuge for the mind and body, a warm embrace from nature,” adding that the team has paired “advanced vitality therapies with island rituals passed down for generations.”

With its compact villa count, detailed wellness programme and strong connection to Paje’s ocean lifestyle, ENVI Paje is aimed at travellers who want a restorative beach stay without retreating entirely from the character of Zanzibar.
