Czapek Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue Brings a Smoky Sapphire Dial to the Collection

Czapek has returned to the transparent-dial idea with a cooler, more streamlined take on the Promenade.

The new Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue uses sapphire crystal not simply as a window, but as the main visual event, tinting the view into the movement with a soft fumé blue finish.

It’s a watch for collectors who like mechanical openness without the harder-edged look of full skeletonisation.

The dial is the defining feature here, and Czapek has taken a subtler route than a conventional tinted crystal.

Rather than using sapphire that is coloured through the material itself, the dial begins as clear sapphire crystal and receives a controlled metallic coating on its underside through vapour deposition.

The result is a surface that reads as blue while still allowing the eye to pass through to the architecture beneath.

The coating is applied with varying density across the dial, creating a gentle fumé gradient.

It is more open around the small seconds display at 4:30 and deeper around the opposite side near 10:30, giving the watch a sense of movement even before the mechanism comes into focus.

Lighter hour markers sharpen the Promenade look

One of the most effective changes is the move to slim baton hour markers made from Super-LumiNova.

They take up less visual space than metallic markers and sit more quietly against the blue sapphire, which helps the whole composition feel cleaner.

That restraint matters because transparent-dial watches can easily become crowded.

Here, the markers give just enough structure for legibility without interrupting the view through the dial.

The SXH7 puts the mechanics on display

Behind the sapphire dial is Czapek’s calibre SXH7, an automatic movement derived from the SXH5 and opened up to reveal more of its mechanical layout.

The balance wheel is positioned at 6 o’clock, the mainspring at 1 o’clock, the micro-rotor at 9 o’clock and the winding column at 3 o’clock.

That arrangement gives the watch a technical identity from both sides, since the movement can be viewed through the dial and the exhibition caseback.

It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 60-hour power reserve, keeping the specification practical rather than purely decorative.

A compact steel case keeps the focus on the dial

The Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue is housed in a 38mm stainless steel case with a smooth round bezel and matching lugs.

At 10.8mm thick, it sits in a versatile zone for a contemporary dress-leaning watch, present on the wrist without becoming bulky.

Water resistance is rated to 50 metres, and buyers can choose either nubuck leather or a Milanese mesh stainless steel bracelet.

The case design doesn’t compete with the dial, which is exactly the point.
