Certina’s DS Action Diver has always made its case through practicality rather than theatre, and the 38mm size is the one that gives the collection its most approachable proportions.
The latest additions lean into that compact format with black PVD-coated cases and sharp colour accents in orange or teal, bringing a more athletic look to a watch that remains built around everyday dive-watch utility.
At a glance
- Certina has added two black PVD-coated DS Action Diver 38mm automatic models with orange or teal accents.
- The watches combine 300m water resistance, a ceramic bezel insert, Super-LumiNova and the Powermatic 80.611 calibre with an 80-hour power reserve.
- Each version is priced at CHF 865, EUR 975 or USD 1,000 and comes with a black DLC-coated bracelet plus a matching silicone strap.
A compact diver with a sharper colour code
The new DS Action Diver 38mm editions use a stainless steel case measuring 38mm across and 13.2mm thick, finished with a black PVD coating.

That dark base gives the watch a more tactical feel, while the orange or teal details keep it from becoming too severe.
The colour appears around the dial and bezel, including the graduations on the matte ceramic bezel insert and the lacquered flange that carries the minutes and seconds track.
Certina links the palette to padel, a sport the brand has supported since 2021, and the connection feels more like a visual cue than a novelty theme.

The black dial keeps the layout familiar, with applied geometric hour markers, luminous hands and a date window at 3 o’clock.
A lollipop-style central seconds hand is finished in the matching accent colour and includes a luminous dot, a small detail that gives the dial a useful point of movement.
Built around Certina’s practical dive-watch formula
The watch is fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown and a screw-down caseback, supporting a stated water resistance of 300 metres.

A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating sits over the dial.
Certina also uses its DS Concept Extreme Shock Resistance construction here, combining a strengthened crystal, secured movement and reinforced dial to improve impact protection.
Inside is the automatic Powermatic 80.611 calibre, also identified as ETA C07.611.

The movement is derived from the ETA 2824 architecture and uses a Nivachron balance spring, an antimagnetic alloy intended to help protect against everyday magnetic exposure.
It runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers an 80-hour power reserve, which remains one of the most practical features in Certina’s current automatic range.
Bracelet, strap and daily usability
Both versions are delivered on a black DLC-coated stainless steel bracelet with a quick-release system.

The bracelet uses a deployant clasp with two push buttons and a diver’s extension, keeping the specification aligned with the watch’s functional intent.
Certina also includes a matching silicone strap in orange or teal, giving each model a more casual option straight from the box.
That two-strap setup makes sense for a 38mm diver, especially one positioned as a practical sports watch rather than a safe-bound object.
