Certina has pushed its modern dive-watch line into more serious territory with the DS Super PH2000M, a titanium automatic rated to 2,000 metres.

That figure is far beyond what almost any owner will ever test, but it says plenty about where accessible Swiss tool watches are heading.

For collectors who like their dive watches overbuilt, technically credible and still relatively attainable, this is one of Certina’s most assertive releases in years.

Here, that means a serious saturation-diving specification in a watch priced at £1,230, a figure that puts it in direct conversation with many less technically ambitious divers.

Titanium, pressure resistance and the DS Concept

The case measures 43mm across and 16mm thick, so this is not pretending to be a discreet desk diver.
