The Octo Finissimo has always been one of Bulgari’s sharpest expressions of modern watchmaking, both literally and philosophically.

With the Octo Finissimo Dazzle, the brand takes that angular titanium silhouette and makes it harder to read at first glance, covering almost every visible surface with a fragmented geometric pattern.

It’s still the familiar ultra-thin automatic Octo underneath, but the visual language has shifted from architectural clarity to optical interference.

The Octo Finissimo’s identity is usually built around precision of line.

Its 40mm case combines a flat profile, layered geometry and a restrained titanium finish, creating a watch that feels more like wearable architecture than a conventional luxury sports watch.

Bulgari has laser-engraved a grid-like pattern of squares across the sandblasted titanium case, opaline titanium dial and integrated bracelet, creating a continuous surface treatment that interrupts the watch’s natural edges and facets.

The bezel is left untouched, which matters more than it might sound.

On the Octo Finissimo, the bezel acts almost like a visual anchor, and here it gives the eye one stable point amid the surrounding pattern.

The idea borrows from dazzle camouflage, a technique developed to distort the perception of an object’s form.

Legibility is clearly secondary here.

Black hands provide contrast against the engraved opaline titanium dial, while the small seconds display keeps the layout consistent with previous automatic models.

The result won’t be for everyone, and that’s part of the point.

Bulgari has used the Octo Finissimo before as a canvas for artists, architects and experimental dial work, and the Dazzle fits naturally into that side of the collection.

The BVL 138 remains the technical centrepiece

Behind the graphic treatment, the Octo Finissimo Dazzle stays mechanically close to the established 40mm automatic model.

It’s powered by Bulgari’s in-house calibre BVL 138, an ultra-thin automatic movement measuring just 2.23mm high.

The movement uses a platinum micro-rotor, a practical solution that helps preserve the watch’s slim profile while still offering automatic winding.

It runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour and delivers a 60-hour power reserve.

The display is kept simple with hours, minutes and small seconds, which suits the watch’s broader restraint even if the surface treatment is anything but discreet.

Turn it over and the movement is visible through a sapphire caseback, with Côtes de Genève, perlage and chamfered components providing the more traditional kind of finishing.

Limited edition positioning

The Octo Finissimo Dazzle is limited to 80 pieces, which places it firmly in the collector-facing corner of the line.

It’s also one of those editions that will likely divide opinion in a useful way.

Collectors who prefer the pure, monochrome restraint of the standard titanium Octo Finissimo may find the motif intentionally distracting.

Others will see it as a clever extension of the model’s geometry, turning the watch’s angular construction into the subject rather than merely the framework.

At CHF 16,900, EUR 19,500 or USD 18,300, it sits above the territory of a simple aesthetic tweak and closer to the realm of limited-edition design object.

That makes sense for a watch less concerned with broad appeal than with expanding what the Octo Finissimo can be.
