Bentley’s electric future has reached the French Riviera sooner than many expected.
Less than a month after its world premiere in London, the Torcal was presented by Bentley Monaco on 20 October at a private static display just outside the Principality.
For a marque with 107 years behind it, the arrival of a Bentley without an internal combustion engine is more than a product launch.

At a glance
- Bentley Monaco presented the Torcal, the marque’s first fully electric model, just outside the Principality on 20 October.
- The electric SUV introduces fully active suspension to Bentley and is offered in Torcal and Torcal S versions at launch.
- Bentley quotes up to 888 PS for the Torcal S, up to 600 km of WLTP range and 400 kW fast charging.
A fourth Bentley model line for the electric age
The Torcal joins the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga as Bentley’s fourth model line.
It also draws a clear line in the company’s modern history, becoming the first Bentley sold without a petrol engine or plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
Designed, engineered and built in Crewe, the Torcal is described by Bentley as a roughly five-metre SUV positioned below the Bentayga.

It is also the first production model to carry Bentley’s updated logo, introduced in 2025.
Thomas Cordier, General Manager of Bentley Monaco, framed the launch as evidence of the marque’s “ability to reinvent itself” while remaining attached to craftsmanship and performance.
Riviera debut for a car aimed at quiet grand touring
Monaco is a natural stage for this car.

The Principality has one of Europe’s densest luxury-car cultures, and its long-running support for clean mobility gives an electric Bentley an unusually receptive setting.
The Bentley Monaco presentation was a static event rather than a drive, intended to give VIP clients, partners and media time with the design, cabin details and new technical direction at close range.
That matters because the Torcal isn’t being introduced as a niche experiment.

It is being positioned as a core Bentley, one intended to sit in garages alongside combustion models rather than simply gesture toward an electric future.
Power claims and chassis changes
Bentley says the Torcal S delivers up to 888 PS, with a WLTP range of up to 600 km.
The manufacturer also quotes 400 kW fast charging, said to take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 16 minutes.

Bentley has described the Torcal as its most powerful and fastest-accelerating production model, though those claims remain manufacturer figures until independently tested.
The chassis may be the more telling development.
The Torcal introduces fully active suspension to Bentley for the first time, paired with adaptive dual-valve dampers that remove the need for traditional anti-roll bars.
All-wheel steering reduces the turning circle to 11.1 metres, a useful number for a luxury SUV expected to handle city streets, coastal roads and long-distance use with equal composure.
Cabin materials and an engineered sense of sound
For any electric luxury car, silence can be both a strength and a risk.
Bentley’s answer is partly tactile, with a Merino wool fabric developed in collaboration with Somerset-based Fox Brothers and described by the manufacturer as the first of its kind suitable for automotive upholstery.
The brand has also worked on the car’s sound character.
Musicians were commissioned to create a “Dynamic Symphony”, a human-generated soundtrack said to draw inspiration from the beat of Bentley’s classic V8.
Whether those choices translate into genuine character will be judged on the road, but they show how carefully Bentley is approaching the emotional gap left by the absence of a combustion engine.

The Torcal won’t make the combustion Bentley disappear from Riviera garages overnight.
What it will do is test how far Bentley’s loyal clientele is ready to follow Crewe into a quieter, faster and more technically complex era.
