The Clifton has long been Baume & Mercier’s quiet dress-watch proposition, but the latest Baumatic limited editions give the collection a sharper visual signature.
For 2026, the brand is introducing two ice-blue guilloché-dial models, one a clean 39mm automatic and the other a 40mm perpetual calendar in stainless steel.
It’s a measured update rather than a loud reinvention, and that restraint suits the Clifton well.

A cooler dial for the modern Clifton
The simpler of the two watches, the Clifton Baumatic 39mm Ref. M0A10870, gives the new dial treatment the most room to breathe.
Its stamped guilloché pattern spreads across the dial with a geometric texture that catches light without overwhelming the watch’s dress-leaning character.
Ice blue is doing useful work here.
In a darker or more saturated tone, the pattern could have felt too decorative for the Clifton, but this cooler shade keeps the watch fresh, polished and easy to wear.
The dial carries the updated Clifton language introduced in the recent redesign, including a black central crosshair, a snailed minute track, rhodium-plated trapezoidal indexes and alpha-style hands.
A single Arabic numeral at 12 o’clock gives the watch a little vintage inflection, while the date sits cleanly at 6 o’clock on a matching blue-toned disc.
The stainless steel case measures 39mm across and 11.2mm thick, with polished and satin-finished surfaces and a domed sapphire crystal with antireflective treatment on both sides.
It’s paired with a three-row stainless steel bracelet that uses the same mix of brushed and polished finishing, plus an interchangeable bar system for easier strap changes.
The Baumatic movement remains the backbone
The Clifton’s modern credibility changed significantly when Baume & Mercier introduced the Baumatic movement family in 2018.
Before then, the collection already had the proportions and the mid-century cues, but the Baumatic calibres gave it a more persuasive technical argument.
Inside the 39mm ice-blue model is the BM13-1975A automatic movement, offering hours, minutes, central seconds and date with a 120-hour power reserve.
That five-day reserve remains one of the Clifton Baumatic’s strongest practical traits, particularly for buyers rotating between several watches during the week.
The movement is visible through a sapphire caseback, where the finishing includes circular graining on the bridges, a sandblasted plate with snailed decoration and a rotor finished with Côtes de Genève and Baume & Mercier engraving.
It’s not a watch trying to be artisanal for its own sake, but the visible calibre gives the piece the mechanical presence expected at this level.
The perpetual calendar becomes more approachable
The more technically ambitious model is the Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar Ref. M0A10872.
Its most important change is not only the ice-blue dial, but the move to a 40mm stainless steel case.
Earlier Clifton perpetual calendar models appeared in 42mm precious-metal cases, including red gold versions, which gave the complication a more traditional luxury posture.
This new format feels more contemporary, especially for collectors who want the complication without the visual or physical weight of a larger precious-metal case.
The dial displays the day, date, month, leap-year cycle and moon phase, while accounting automatically for months of different lengths and leap years.
If kept running and correctly set, the calendar won’t need manual correction until 2100, when the Gregorian calendar skips a leap year.
Despite the amount of information, the watch doesn’t abandon the Clifton’s calm personality.
Snailed subdials help separate the indications, while rhodium-plated alpha hands and elongated indexes keep the design aligned with the three-hand model.
Arabic numerals at 2, 4, 8 and 10 o’clock add clarity around the calendar displays, a useful decision on a dial that could easily have become crowded.
