Baume & Mercier’s Joia collection puts the feminine dress watch back at the centre of the conversation, not as a miniature afterthought but as a compact design with its own character.
Across five 28 mm references, the collection mixes polished steel, 4N PVD gold-tone accents, diamond setting and interchangeable straps or bracelets.
It’s a familiar Baume & Mercier territory, shaped by more than a century of women’s watches that treated timekeeping as both useful object and personal ornament.

At a glance
- Baume & Mercier has introduced five Joia models built around a 28 mm round case.
- The collection combines Roman numerals, leaf-shaped hands, polished steel, 4N PVD accents and, on one reference, a diamond-set case.
- All models use the quartz Ronda 751 movement, with prices ranging from €1,350 to €4,400.
A small round watch with deep house history
Joia’s shape is deliberately classical, with a compact round case, Roman numeral hour markers and leaf-shaped hands.
Those cues connect the collection to Baume & Mercier’s history in jewellery watches, a thread that reaches back to the early 20th century.
When Paul Mercier joined William Baume in 1918, the Maison recognised a shift already underway, as women’s watches became objects of function, taste and greater independence.

By 1920, the Davoine General Indicator of Watchmaking described Baume & Mercier’s women’s creations as “haute Fantaisie pour Dames”.
That decorative language continued through later decades in gold jewellery pieces and cuff watches using materials such as mother-of-pearl, onyx, lapis lazuli and turquoise.
A vintage 1980s Baume & Mercier jewellery timepiece in 18k white gold, with a diamond-set bezel, linen-textured dial and integrated bark-finish bracelet, sits naturally within that lineage.

Five Joia references with distinct personalities
The new Joia line doesn’t chase complication, and that’s part of its point.
It uses modest proportions and controlled surface detail to create five watches with clear differences in tone.
The reference 10847 is the cleanest reading of the idea, with a polished stainless steel case, a silvery sun-satin dial, Roman numerals and 4N gold-tone leaf-shaped hands.

Its midnight blue calfskin strap gives it the softest feel in the range.
The reference 10848 keeps the silvery sun-satin dial and 4N gold-tone hands but moves to an integrated three-row bracelet.
That bracelet uses H-shaped steel links with alternating satin and polished finishes, adding a more architectural note to the compact case.

The reference 10849 shifts the mood through polished 4N PVD steel details and black transfer leaf hands.
Paired with a black calfskin strap, it’s the most graphic of the strap models.
The reference 10896 introduces a two-tone effect through a polished 4N PVD bezel and five central bracelet links on each side finished in 4N PVD.

It keeps the silvery sun-satin dial, Roman numerals and 4N gold-tone leaf hands, making it the warmest bracelet interpretation.
The most jewellery-led model is the reference 10850, which sets the polished steel case with 40 diamonds.
Its silvery satin-finished dial carries a criss-cross pattern, Roman numerals and black transfer leaf hands, while the bracelet uses an embossed flattened-link decoration.

Quartz practicality and interchangeable wear
All five Joia models are powered by the quartz Ronda 751 movement, with an autonomy of approximately five years.
That choice keeps the watches slim in spirit and easy to live with, especially for buyers who want a refined daily piece without mechanical upkeep becoming part of the ritual.
The collection is water-resistant to 5 ATM and each watch has a crown set with a black agate cabochon.

The polished solid case back keeps the execution simple, while the tool-free interchangeable straps and bracelets add useful flexibility.
It’s an important practical detail in a category where the ability to move between leather, steel and two-tone looks can change how often a watch is worn.

Joia will likely speak to collectors and everyday wearers who prefer a smaller, classically feminine watch with visible jewellery cues rather than a scaled-down sports design.

Its strongest quality is restraint, with just enough variation across the five references to make the collection feel considered rather than crowded.
