Baltic’s Green MR Classic Celebrates the Bangladesh Watch Club

Not every meaningful watch collaboration needs to come from an established collecting capital.

The Bangladesh Watch Club has introduced its first dedicated watch, a 50-piece Baltic MR Classic that uses the French brand’s vintage-leaning dress watch as a canvas for national identity and collector community.

Named The First Fifty, the watch brings together a green dial, Bengali numerals and a discreet red seconds hand in a compact micro-rotor design.

Founded in 2017, the Bangladesh Watch Club was created around horological education, collecting and community.

Its first watch collaboration is notable because it doesn’t simply add a logo or commemorative caseback to an existing model.

The grained green dial immediately connects the watch to Bangladesh, while the red seconds hand gives a measured nod to the red disc of the national flag.

The most distinctive detail is the use of Bengali numerals at the cardinal positions, paired with slim baton markers around the rest of the dial.

The Baltic MR Classic remains the foundation

The appeal of the edition depends heavily on the strength of the MR Classic itself.

Baltic’s dress watch has built a following by offering vintage proportions, a restrained case and a micro-rotor automatic movement at a relatively approachable level.

The Bangladesh Watch Club edition keeps the 36mm by 10mm case profile, including the stepped polished bezel and domed Hesalite crystal.

That sizing suits the Calatrava-adjacent character of the watch, keeping it compact, formal and easy to wear without feeling precious.

The dial layout also keeps the off-set small seconds at 7 o’clock, a signature quirk of the MR line that gives the watch more personality than a conventional three-hand dress piece.

Micro-rotor mechanics in a collector-focused package

Inside is the Hangzhou CAL5000a automatic movement, wound by a micro-rotor.

That detail matters because micro-rotor movements are still uncommon in watches at this end of the market, and they add a level of mechanical interest that suits a club-led edition.

The edition is limited to 50 pieces, each individually numbered and engraved.

Reservations are being handled by the Bangladesh Watch Club, and the watches are intended for members, with delivery planned at a collectors’ dinner.

The allocation has already been spoken for, which underlines the strength of the local collecting community around the project.
