Atelier Wen’s Inflection was already an ambitious statement from a young independent brand, largely because it refused the easy route in both case construction and cultural language.
For Geneva Watch Days 2026, the watch returns in a sharper and more rarefied form through a collaboration with New York creative studio Massena LAB.
The result is the Inflection Shuo, a 50-piece edition in tantalum with two solid-gold dial treatments and a customised Girard-Perregaux automatic movement inside.

A difficult metal shaped into a curved case
The Inflection Shuo keeps the collection’s 40mm case, compact 45mm lug-to-lug measurement and 10.2mm thickness including the crystal.
Those numbers are restrained, but the construction is anything but simple.
The case and integrated bracelet are made almost entirely from 99.9 percent pure tantalum, a metal admired for its dark bluish-grey tone, density and corrosion resistance.
It’s also famously unforgiving to machine and finish, which makes the Inflection’s architecture more than a visual exercise.
The case mixes concave and convex surfaces, including a concave bezel, a ridged mid-case and an integrated bracelet whose curves draw from Chinese architectural forms.
Both dial variants use double-domed sapphire crystals front and back, each treated with five layers of anti-reflective coating.
The White Gold edition receives a tantalum crown, while the Rose Gold edition is fitted with a solid rose gold crown.
Water resistance is rated to 100 metres, a practical touch that gives the watch more everyday credibility than its artisanal dial might suggest.
The Shuo dial turns tremblage into light
Shuo translates as “sparkling” or “radiant,” and the name is carried most clearly by the dial work.
The dials are produced by GT Cadrans in Switzerland and hand-finished by engraver Coralie Mercier.
Each begins with a solid 18k white gold base plate finished with hand tremblage, creating a granular surface that catches light in a less predictable way than brushing or guilloché.
A radially brushed gold chapter ring sits above that textured base.
One version is executed fully in white gold, while the other introduces a rose gold hour sector for a warmer contrast against the tantalum case.
The layout borrows from the California dial idea but moves it into Atelier Wen’s own design language.
Custom Arabic numerals occupy the upper half, while hand-calligraphed Chinese numerals fill the lower section.
The numerals are filled in blue to match the blued hour, minute and seconds hands.
A hand-tremblaged outer ring is bordered by an engraved huiwen motif, a traditional Chinese decorative pattern that adds structure without flattening the dial’s texture.
A Girard-Perregaux calibre with custom architecture
Inside is a customised version of the Girard-Perregaux GP03300, continuing the higher-end mechanical direction established by the Inflection collection.
The automatic calibre has been reworked with bridges shaped around sweeping curves inspired by wind motifs in historical Chinese painting.
Dark grey ruthenium bridges are finished with anglage and laser-etched waved stripes that radiate from the centre.
The custom winding rotor follows the same flowing theme and is plated in 5N rose gold.
Technically, the movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers approximately 48 hours of power reserve.
It has 27 jewels, a hacking seconds function, and is adjusted to five positions and temperature.
Bracelet, allocation and ownership details
The integrated tantalum bracelet is as important to the Inflection’s personality as the case itself.
It uses brushed external links and polished central links, with a 22mm width at the case tapering to 18mm at the clasp.
For daily wear, Atelier Wen has included a patent-pending four-position on-the-fly micro-adjustment system, a telescopic deployant blade and a quick-release mechanism.
Total production is limited to 50 pieces.
Of those, 10 White Gold models are reserved for established clients of Atelier Wen or Massena LAB, while 40 Rose Gold models are being made available to the public.
Orders open on 26 August 2026, with deliveries scheduled to begin in early 2027.
