Atelier Wen has never treated cross-cultural watchmaking as a styling exercise, and its new collaboration with Massena LAB makes that position explicit.
Presented during Geneva Watch Days 2026 at Hôtel Eastwest, the Atelier Wen x Massena LAB Inflection Shuò pairs a 99.9% tantalum case and integrated bracelet with two elaborate 18k gold dial executions finished by hand in Switzerland.
The result is a 50-piece limited edition that sits at an unusually detailed meeting point between Chinese design language, Swiss decorative craft and independent-watch collecting.

The Shuò dial carries the collaboration
The name Shuò comes from the Chinese character 烁, with meanings tied to sparkle, radiance and glittering light.
It’s an apt choice because the dial is the watch’s main event, not just its decorative surface.
Both versions begin with solid 18k gold dial plates finished with hand tremblage by engraving specialist Coralie Mercier for GT Cadrans.
The process involves moving a graver across the gold while the dial is continuously oscillated, building a field of tiny irregular facets that catch light in a way machine finishing can’t easily imitate.
That level of handwork also makes the dial unforgiving, since a single error can compromise the entire plate.
Over the tremblaged ground sits a radially brushed sector in either white gold or rose gold, depending on the version.
The layout takes cues from a California dial, but Atelier Wen and Massena LAB have pushed it into more personal territory.
Hours 10 through 2 use hand-engraved custom serif Arabic numerals, while hours 4 through 8 use hand-calligraphed Chinese numerals commissioned by Atelier Wen.
The outer sector continues the hand tremblage and is framed by a finely engraved huiwen border, a traditional Chinese motif recognised for its resemblance to the character huí.
The numerals are filled in blue to match the blued-steel hour, minute and seconds hands.
Atelier Wen signs the dial at 12 o’clock, while Massena appears near 6 o’clock in white gold, keeping the co-branding discreet rather than turning it into a graphic centerpiece.
Tantalum gives the Inflection its weight and colour
The dial’s warmth is set against the blue-grey presence of tantalum, used here for the case and integrated bracelet.
Atelier Wen specifies 99.9% tantalum, a metal prized for its density, corrosion resistance and distinctive inky tone.
It is also notoriously difficult to machine and finish, which makes its use in the Inflection especially ambitious.
The 40mm case is defined by curved architecture inspired by Chinese forms, with almost no flat planes across the construction.
A concave bezel and ridged midcase add depth, while the integrated bracelet alternates vertically brushed outer links, mirror-polished middle links and concave-polished chamfers.
The watch is water-resistant to 100 metres and uses a screw-down crown.
On the white-gold dial version the crown is tantalum, while the rose-gold dial version receives a rose-gold crown.
A customised Girard-Perregaux calibre inside
The Inflection Shuò is powered by a customised Girard-Perregaux GP03300 automatic movement.
That choice gives the watch a serious mechanical foundation and links the project to one of Switzerland’s long-running haute horlogerie manufactures.
The movement decoration has been adapted to suit the watch rather than left as a standard calibre behind a display back.
Its sweeping bridge shapes take inspiration from wind motifs in historical Chinese painting, creating a visual counterpoint to the physical heaviness of tantalum.
The bridges are ruthenium plated and finished with pronounced anglage, sharp exterior angles and laser-etched waved côtes radiating from the centre of the movement.
Black-polished screws and a wind-inspired rotor plated in 5N rose gold complete the treatment.
The calibre uses 27 jewels, runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a 48-hour power reserve.
