ArtyA has never been a quiet participant in independent watchmaking, and the Complexity Métiers d’Art sits firmly in that tradition.
The new limited edition takes the brand’s double inclined tourbillon architecture and shifts the focus toward hand craft, texture and visual depth.
It’s still a highly technical watch, but this version makes the finishing feel as important as the mechanics.

At a glance
- ArtyA has introduced the Complexity Métiers d’Art with two inclined tourbillons positioned at 12 and 6 o’clock.
- The watch pairs a transparent sapphire case with extensive hand engraving, hammering, shot blasting, perlage and polished bevels.
- The sapphire edition is limited to nine numbered pieces and is priced at CHF 190,000, with a ruby version priced at CHF 220,000.
A sapphire case shaped around the mechanics
The Complexity Métiers d’Art uses ArtyA’s transparent case architecture, cut from a solid block of synthetic sapphire.
Its dimensions are 42mm by 48mm and 13mm thick, with a triple-concave profile designed to follow the wrist despite the watch’s dramatic construction.
The case isn’t just a container here.

Sapphire domes at 12 and 6 o’clock magnify the two inclined tourbillons, turning the regulators into the visual anchor of the watch.
ArtyA also cuts the faceted crown from crystal, keeping the entire external language aligned with the transparent case concept.
The geometry is demanding, requiring more than 120 hours of diamond machining and over 140 hours of polishing.

Hand engraving and darker finishing take over the dial
The Métiers d’Art treatment begins on the dial, where a finely sandblasted base is hand-engraved with radiating scratches cut individually by burin.
That approach gives the dial a more tactile and less purely technical character than a simple openworked display.
The applied indices are finished with hand-polished bevels, while their flanks are drawn with the carbon buff.

Their upper surfaces remain sandblasted, allowing them to sit within the dial’s texture rather than fighting against it.
The movement finishing follows the same direction.
Upper surfaces are shot-blasted, lower surfaces are hand-hammered for relief, and the visible angles are bevelled and polished by hand.

Recesses around the differential receive hand perlage, while black rhodium plating creates a dark stage for the polished edges and textured surfaces.
Two inclined tourbillons linked by a differential
Inside is the proprietary manual-winding Calibre Complexity-01, developed with Purtec Sarl in Vallorbe.
The movement’s defining feature is its double inclined tourbillon system, with regulators placed at 12 and 6 o’clock and connected by a differential.

Each tourbillon follows a conical path rather than a standard cylindrical one, a construction intended to help compensate for gravitational effects across vertical positions.
The differential distributes energy between the two regulators and averages their rates.
Both tourbillons complete one rotation every 30 seconds, and the cages move in opposite directions.

The manual calibre is made from 287 components, uses 44 jewels, beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and delivers a 50-hour power reserve.
Limited availability and collectors’ appeal
The Complexity Métiers d’Art is worn on an integrated rubber strap with an ArtyA folding clasp.
The transparent sapphire version is limited to nine individually numbered pieces and is available by order through ArtyA Genève and official retailers.

Pricing is CHF 190,000 for the sapphire model.
A pigeon-blood red synthetic ruby version is also part of the launch, priced at CHF 220,000.
For collectors drawn to independent watchmaking at its most expressive, the appeal is clear.

This is a watch that treats complication, transparency and hand finishing as one connected idea rather than separate talking points.

The Complexity Métiers d’Art is less about making a complicated watch look restrained and more about making every part of that complication visible, finished and intentionally dramatic.
For ArtyA, that feels exactly right.
