Mercedes-AMG has taken the GT 4-Door into a very different era, replacing V8 muscle with a new electric performance platform built for extreme acceleration and long-distance usability.
The 2027 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV rides on the AMG.EA architecture and uses a 106 kWh battery pack feeding three axial-flux motors, with one motor at the front axle and one motor driving each rear wheel.
Three motors replace the twin-turbo V8
The GT55 version produces 805 hp and 1,328 lb-ft of torque, enough for a claimed 0 to 60 mph time of 2.4 seconds.

The quickest version is claimed to cut that sprint to just 2.0 seconds, putting the electric AMG deep into hypercar territory, while top speed for both variants is limited to 186 mph.
AMG has also added a synthesized V8-style sound under hard acceleration, a clear attempt to preserve some of the drama that defined the combustion-powered GT 4-Door.
A 435-mile range claim and very serious charging hardware
Performance is only part of the story, because the GT 4-Door EV is also being positioned as a high-speed grand tourer rather than a short-range acceleration exercise.
Mercedes-AMG claims up to 435 miles of range on a full charge, and the battery supports ultra-fast charging at up to 600 kW.
Under ideal conditions, that charging capability can add more than 286 miles of driving range in 10 minutes, which would make the car unusually practical for long-distance electric performance driving.
A bold new AMG face
The styling is likely to be more divisive than the powertrain, with a wide, low-set front grille, illuminated vertical strakes and star-shaped daytime running lights giving the car a very assertive identity.
On the GT63 variant, the headlamps are linked by a front light bar, while the rear uses a black fascia with three circular taillights and a continuous LED strip above them.
It is a major departure from the cleaner stance of the outgoing V8 model, and it pushes AMG’s electric design language into a more theatrical direction.
A screen-heavy cabin for the electric AMG era
Inside, the GT 4-Door EV follows the current Mercedes approach with a wide digital layout, a central touchscreen angled toward the driver and a dedicated display for the front passenger.
The layout suggests that AMG wants the car to feel more like a technology flagship than a traditional sport sedan, while still keeping the driver as the focus of the cockpit.
The 2027 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV is expected to reach showrooms by the end of the year, arriving as one of the brand’s most important performance cars of the electric age.
For buyers who want supercar acceleration, usable range and four-door practicality in one package, this new AMG may be one of the most serious electric sedans yet.
