TAG Heuer’s Carrera Chronograph Glassbox has become one of the brand’s most adaptable modern platforms, and its latest version leans into a warmer, more vintage-tinged palette.
The new Carrera Chronograph Glassbox Limited Edition pairs a sand-coloured dial with darker anthracite counters, giving the 39mm chronograph a softer character without losing the sharpness expected from the Carrera line.
Limited to 500 pieces for the European market, it’s a familiar formula executed with a dial treatment that feels particularly well suited to the Glassbox case.

A sand dial with proper contrast
The main draw here is the dial, which moves away from the blue, panda, reverse panda and more colourful Carrera Glassbox executions TAG Heuer has explored recently.
The lightly grained beige surface gives the watch a sun-baked quality, while the anthracite azuré counters at three and nine o’clock keep the layout crisp.
The matching anthracite tachymeter flange adds depth around the edge of the dial, an important detail on a watch where the domed crystal and bezel-free case already pull the eye outward.
Rhodium-plated faceted indexes and hour and minute hands provide clean legibility, with white Super-LumiNova added to the main hands.
The running seconds display sits at six o’clock in silver, alongside an angled date window that keeps the tricompax-style balance intact.
The 39mm Glassbox case remains the sweet spot
The watch uses TAG Heuer’s 39mm Carrera Chronograph Glassbox case in stainless steel, measuring 13.86mm thick.
Its signature is the highly domed sapphire crystal, shaped to recall the curved acrylic crystals used on early Carrera chronographs.
Because there’s no conventional bezel, the crystal becomes a major visual feature, bending the dial edge and tachymeter scale into the architecture of the watch.
The case mixes brushed and polished surfaces, with a steel crown and round pump-style pushers that suit the Carrera’s motorsport lineage without turning the design into pastiche.
A screw-down sapphire caseback reveals the movement and carries the limited-edition engraving, while water resistance is rated to 100 metres.
TH20-00 movement and racing strap
Inside is TAG Heuer’s calibre TH20-00, the brand’s in-house automatic integrated chronograph movement.
The calibre is an evolution of the Heuer 02 and uses a column wheel and vertical clutch, two features that matter to chronograph enthusiasts for their feel and engagement.
It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers an 80-hour power reserve, giving the watch enough autonomy to be left off the wrist for a weekend and picked up again without immediate winding.
The beige perforated calfskin strap is a smart match for the dial, nodding to traditional racing straps while keeping the overall look light and cohesive.
It closes with a steel folding clasp fitted with double safety push-buttons and an engraved TAG Heuer shield.
