The new Parmigiani Fleurier Carillon Tourbillon is a compact manifesto for a house that has always treated restoration and invention as parts of the same discipline.
Created for the brand’s 30th anniversary, it brings together a four-gong carillon minute repeater, a 60-second tourbillon and a hand-hammered white gold dial in a run of just five watches.
It’s the sort of piece that doesn’t need to shout, because the sound is the point.
At a glance
- Parmigiani Fleurier has introduced the Carillon Tourbillon for its 30th anniversary, limited to five pieces.
- The watch combines a four-gong carillon minute repeater, a 60-second tourbillon and a hand-wound PF950 calibre with at least 10 days of power reserve.
- It is cased in polished 18ct white gold and priced at CHF 490,000.
Restoration gives the anniversary watch its voice
Michel Parmigiani’s formative work was in restoration, and that background still gives the brand its particular sense of restraint.
The Carillon Tourbillon draws on a 19th-century Perrin Frères pocket watch from the Sandoz Collection, a piece restored in Parmigiani Fleurier’s workshops in 2000.
The result isn’t a copy of a historic object.
It is closer to a continuation of an old mechanical idea, translated into a modern wristwatch with the patience and confidence of a manufacture that understands chiming watches from the inside out.
Morning Blue and four visible gongs
The dial is made from 18ct white gold and finished by hand with a hammered texture in Morning Blue, a tone that sits somewhere between pale silver and soft azure.
Because the surface is worked by hand, each dial carries small irregularities that change with the light rather than flattening into a uniform finish.
Rhodium-plated 18ct gold appliques mark the hours, while the white gold hands keep the display deliberately quiet.
The more theatrical element is also the most functional one.
Four serpentine gongs run around the dial side, giving the watch much of its visual identity while forming the acoustic architecture of the carillon.
In a conventional minute repeater, two gongs usually sound the hours, quarters and minutes.
Here, four hammers and four gongs create a richer sequence, with one low gong for the hours, one high gong for the minutes and two intermediate gongs for the quarter-hours.
The PF950 treats energy as carefully as sound
The hand-wound calibre PF950 is the technical centre of the watch, built from 456 components and finished with hand-bevelling and hand-graining.
Its architecture uses three mainspring barrels, which is where the movement becomes especially interesting.
Two stacked barrels drive the timekeeping train and provide a power reserve of at least 10 days.
A third barrel is dedicated to the striking mechanism and charges automatically only when the slide is activated, helping preserve the main train’s energy while giving the chime its own reserve of power.
A centrifugal governor regulates the speed of the hammer sequence, keeping the tempo consistent from the first strike to the last.
The movement also carries a 60-second tourbillon, visible from the caseback alongside the power reserve display.
Parmigiani Fleurier places the repeater components on the dial side, so the hammers and gongs are part of the experience rather than hidden beneath the movement architecture.
The decoration includes the Mezzo-Vibrato hand-engraved vibrating texture, executed by the engravers of Atelier Blandenier.
White gold, five pieces and a collector’s scale
The polished 18ct white gold case measures 41.60 mm across and 12.60 mm thick, a serious but controlled size for a watch carrying this much mechanical complexity.
Vertical gadroons along the case flanks echo classical columns, a motif long associated with Michel Parmigiani’s visual language.
White gold is also an acoustic choice here, selected for the way it carries gong vibration through the case and onto the wrist.
A box-shaped Ardur anti-reflective sapphire crystal sits over the dial, while the caseback uses the same sapphire treatment and carries the serial number and “Edition Limitée de 5 pièces” engraving.
The watch is worn on a hand-stitched, double-sided Akoya grey alligator strap with an 18ct white gold pin buckle.
With only five examples planned, this is not a scaled collection piece but a highly concentrated anniversary watch for collectors drawn to restoration culture, acoustic watchmaking and Parmigiani Fleurier’s quieter side of high complication.

The Carillon Tourbillon succeeds because it doesn’t treat complexity as spectacle alone.
Its appeal lies in how carefully Parmigiani Fleurier has joined history, sound, finishing and proportion into a watch that feels less like an anniversary gesture and more like a statement of method.
