Panerai’s Luna Rossa watches have become more than team editions.
As the build-up continues toward the 38th America’s Cup in Naples, the partnership adds two new Luminor models with practical complications, steel cases and the familiar red accents tied to the Italian sailing team.
The Panerai Luminor Luna Rossa Chrono PAM01768 leans into timing and speed, while the Luminor Luna Rossa GMT PAM01791 brings a smaller case and the first metal bracelet in the Luna Rossa family.

Luna Rossa returns to the Luminor case
Panerai’s connection with Luna Rossa began in 2019, and the collaboration has given the brand a credible arena for modern sports-watch ideas.
Previous Luna Rossa models have explored materials and complications that suit the sailing world, from titanium and Carbotech cases to GMT displays, flyback chronographs and regatta-focused timing.
These two new watches stay closer to the core Luminor formula, using brushed steel cases, cushion-shaped profiles, luminous dials and Panerai’s signature crown-protecting bridge.
The shared dial language is clean and recognisable, with silver sun-brushed surfaces, white Super-LumiNova and sharp red details that bring in the Luna Rossa identity without overwhelming the design.
The PAM01768 chronograph focuses on speed
The more technical of the pair is the Luminor Luna Rossa Chrono PAM01768, a 44mm brushed-steel chronograph with a closed steel caseback and 100 metres of water resistance.
Its speed tachymeter scale is designed to measure average speed over a set distance, working with the central red-and-white chronograph seconds hand to read kilometres or miles per hour on the flange.
Inside is Panerai’s automatic P.9210 calibre, running at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a 42-hour power reserve.
The strap choice is also notable, with Panerai introducing an elastic Velcro strap for the Luna Rossa line, finished in grey textile and rubber with a central red stripe.
A black rubber strap is included as a second option, which makes sense for a watch that’s clearly pitched toward active use rather than dress-watch discretion.
The PAM01791 GMT brings a new bracelet format
The Luminor Luna Rossa GMT PAM01791 takes a more compact and versatile approach with a 40mm brushed-steel case and polished steel bezel.
It is the first Luna Rossa watch fitted with a metal bracelet, giving the series a different feel on the wrist and broadening its appeal beyond strap-focused Panerai collectors.
The arrow-shaped GMT hand is inspired by the sail of the Luna Rossa yacht, while the red small seconds hand adds another point of contrast against the silver sun-brushed dial.
Power comes from the automatic P.900/GMT 12 H calibre, which runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 72-hour power reserve.
The second-time-zone display is a 12-hour GMT format, and the watch is rated to 100 metres of water resistance.
Panerai’s PAM Click Release System allows the bracelet to be swapped without tools, a practical touch for owners who like changing the character of a watch between steel and rubber or textile straps.
