Oris Gives the ProPilot Date a Bronze Case and a Green Suede Strap

Oris has taken the recently refined ProPilot Date and given it a material change with real personality.

The new ProPilot Bronze keeps the practical proportions and clean aviation layout of the current model, but swaps steel for a case that will darken, soften and change with wear.

It’s still a straightforward pilot-style daily watch, only now with a little more warmth on the wrist.

At 41mm wide, 11.7mm thick and 49mm lug to lug, the ProPilot Bronze retains the sizing of the current steel model, which keeps it in versatile everyday territory rather than turning it into a novelty piece.

The multi-piece case is made in bronze, apart from the stainless steel screw-down caseback with its mineral glass viewing window.

That choice matters because bronze doesn’t stay visually static.

As the watch is worn, the surface will naturally develop a patina, giving each example a slightly different finish over time.

Oris has paired the case with 100 metres of water resistance, so the watch remains practical enough for regular use rather than being limited to careful desk wear.

Aviation details with a cleaner modern dial

The ProPilot’s familiar design language is still present, but it feels tidier in this latest generation.

The turbine-inspired fluted bezel gives the watch its signature profile, while the oversized screw-in crown draws from a 1938 Oris pilot’s watch and is shaped for easy grip.

On the dial, Oris keeps things direct.

The black surface carries applied Arabic numerals, with Super-LumiNova used on the hands and indices for low-light visibility.

The date window sits at 6 o’clock, preserving the balanced layout that helped sharpen the updated ProPilot Date in the first place.

A dark green suede leather strap gives the bronze case a softer, more casual counterpoint than a conventional brown or black strap might have done.

It’s closed with Oris’s folding LIFT clasp, a detail inspired by aircraft seatbelt hardware, here executed in bronze with seamless adjustment.

A Sellita-derived automatic movement inside

Inside is the Oris Calibre 733, an automatic time-and-date movement using Sellita SW200 architecture.

It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers 41 hours of power reserve.

The specification is deliberately uncomplicated, with hours, minutes, seconds, an instantaneous date and a stop-second function for precise setting.

The Oris red rotor is visible through the rear display window, adding a branded touch without turning the watch into something more elaborate than it needs to be.
