Dr Ludwig Oechslin’s watchmaking has long been defined by subtraction rather than addition.
Where many calendar watches lean into layered displays, text, frames and hands, the Anno reduces the annual calendar to a set of rotating indications that ask the wearer to learn its language.
The calendar module uses rotating gears and just three moving parts, sitting on an ETA 2824-2 automatic base movement.
That choice is central to the watch’s appeal, since the interest is less about an exotic calibre and more about how efficiently the complication has been conceived.
A sandblasted dial with almost no visual noise
The Anno Sandblasted moves away from the more colourful executions associated with earlier serial-production versions.
Its dial is sandblasted and rhodium-plated, giving it a soft silvery surface that keeps the focus on the calendar architecture.
There’s no printed branding, no dial text and no conventional calendar windows.
The date is read through perforations around the outer edge, which also double as a minutes track because each dot represents two minutes.
Smaller circular perforations above and below the centre indicate the month and weekday, both read counterclockwise.
The even-hour markers are kept minimal, with a double index at 12 o’clock, while the central seconds hand carries the watch’s only overt colour accent through a small application of yellow gold leaf.
The weekday display also works as a day and night indicator.
One visible dot signals daytime, while two visible dots indicate night.
Titanium casework with an intentionally industrial finish
The Anno Sandblasted is offered in 39mm and 42mm case sizes, both made from grade 5 titanium.
The case has a deliberately unpolished attitude, with visible machining marks rather than the softened refinement usually associated with traditional Swiss finishing.
Its two-part titanium construction keeps weight low.
The 39mm model weighs just 45 grams before strap and buckle, while the 42mm version comes in at 51 grams before strap and buckle.
A screw-down titanium crown helps deliver 100 metres of water resistance, making the watch more practical than its minimalist surface might suggest.
All calendar functions are adjusted directly through the crown, avoiding hidden pushers and keeping the case architecture clean.

The watch is delivered on a handmade black Ecopell calfskin strap by Sabina Brägger, offered in S, M, L and XL sizes.
