MB&F has introduced a purple edition of the HM8 Mark 2, bringing a bolder, richer finish to one of the brand’s most overtly automotive Horological Machines.
Limited to 33 pieces, the new model keeps the established HM8 Mark 2 architecture but changes the energy of the watch completely, leaning into the visual language of exotic supercars and vividly painted muscle cars.
A purple chassis in CarbonMacrolon and titanium
The HM8 Mark 2 has never tried to behave like a conventional wristwatch, and that remains the point here.
Its body combines CarbonMacrolon, a composite developed specifically for MB&F and said to be eight times lighter than steel, with grade 5 titanium for strength, contrast and finishing detail.
The 47 x 41.5 x 19mm case is large on paper, but its curved surfaces and double-bubble sapphire crystal give it the visual rhythm of a sculpted car body rather than a simple oversized case.
HM5, HMX and HM8 DNA in one machine
The Purple HM8 Mark 2 draws a clear line through MB&F’s automotive-inspired watches, particularly the HM5, HMX and earlier HM8.
What makes the Mark 2 work is that it does not simply repeat those ideas, instead it compresses them into a sleeker object with a stronger sense of continuity across the case, crystal and display.
The engine under the bodywork
Inside is an automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve, a 4Hz frequency, 247 components and 30 jewels.
A 22K gold winding rotor adds another layer of mechanical theatre, while the 30 metres of water resistance keeps the watch firmly in the realm of high-concept horology rather than sports-watch practicality.

Who the purple HM8 Mark 2 is really for
The price remains CHF 68,000 before VAT, which places the Purple HM8 Mark 2 exactly where MB&F collectors would expect it to sit.
This is a watch for someone who sees no conflict between fine watchmaking, industrial design and a little theatrical excess.
For collectors drawn to MB&F’s more automotive side, the purple edition may be the most charismatic HM8 Mark 2 yet, especially for those who like their watches to start conversations before a word has been said.
