Fleury Manufacture’s FXR-4 Chronograph was already an intriguing proposition for collectors drawn to small-scale watchmaking, but the new Sand version shows how much can change in the margins.

The update isn’t about spectacle. It’s about proportion, finishing, serviceability and the kind of careful refinement that tends to matter most once a watch is in the hand rather than on a screen.

The date corrector pusher at 8 o’clock has also been made smaller and less prominent.

That decision allows each lug to be finished with more precision before assembly, which is a traditional high-end approach when the objective is better definition across small surfaces.

Instead of being welded to the case, the lugs are screwed into place.

That gives the construction a practical advantage, since a damaged lug can be removed for refurbishment or replacement rather than forcing a more invasive repair.
