Citizen’s premium The Citizen line has always been where the brand lets its technical discipline meet a more quietly artisanal side.
The latest additions continue that idea with two limited-edition Tosa washi dial watches, each built around Japanese paper craft, Super Titanium cases and the high-accuracy Calibre A060 Eco-Drive movement.

Two different takes on Tosa washi
The interest here starts with the dials, which use two different forms of Tosa washi paper rather than treating the material as a single decorative idea.
The AQ4100-65X has a crimson dial made with Tengujoshi paper, an especially thin and delicate form of washi.
Instead of dyeing the paper fibres directly, Citizen places a translucent crimson layer above the paper, allowing the natural texture to remain visible while still letting light reach the Eco-Drive cells below.
That approach matters because the watch depends on light to run, and the dial has to balance craft, colour and energy transmission rather than simply looking good under glass.
The AQ4106-00B takes a different route with Unryushi paper, which is defined by longer fibres worked into the surface for a more fluid, swirling texture.
Those fibres are picked out in a pale gold tone, with a larger gold-coloured sweep across the lower dial adding a kintsugi-like accent without turning the watch into a literal motif piece.
Super Titanium cases with distinct finishes
Both models share the same 38.3mm by 12.2mm case dimensions, a size that keeps the watches in a wearable daily range rather than pushing them into showpiece territory.
The cases are made from Citizen’s Super Titanium, with the two references separated by their Duratect treatments.
The AQ4100-65X uses Duratect Platinum for a cool silver tone that sets off the crimson dial and matching accents cleanly.
The AQ4106-00B wears Duratect Sakura Pink, giving the case a warmer gold-coloured finish that suits the pale gold fibres and dial detailing.
The finishing difference continues through the hands and baton hour markers, making each reference feel like a distinct composition rather than a simple dial swap.
Eco-Drive precision remains the serious selling point
Behind the paper dials is Citizen’s Calibre A060, an Eco-Drive quartz movement that places these watches firmly in the brand’s high-accuracy territory.
The movement is rated to +/-5 seconds per year, which is the kind of precision that reminds you why Citizen’s quartz engineering has its own collector appeal.
On a full charge, the movement can run for 18 months in power-saving mode, and in normal use it’s designed to keep charging from both natural and artificial light.
The functions are deliberately straightforward with hours, minutes, seconds and date, letting the dial material and accuracy carry the watch rather than adding visual clutter.

Limited editions for the quartz collector
At first glance, these are expensive watches if judged only by the presence of a quartz movement, but that misses the point of The Citizen.
The appeal is in the combination of near-maintenance-free solar charging, exceptional annual accuracy, lightweight titanium construction and dials that bring handcraft into a highly engineered object.
With 350 pieces of the crimson bracelet model and 300 pieces of the Sakura Pink leather-strap version, the pair should speak to collectors who want something more nuanced than a conventional luxury dress watch.
