Breitling has returned to cycling for its latest Top Time, and this one carries the name of Eddy Merckx.
The Belgian rider’s record still feels almost unreal, with 525 professional victories, 11 Grand Tours, three World Championships and 19 Monument classics across a career that ran from the mid-1960s into the late 1970s.
The new Top Time B01 Eddy Merckx channels that history through a bright yellow chronograph that feels more sporting than nostalgic.

The watch is built around a 41mm stainless steel case with mushroom-style chronograph pushers and a dial that immediately brings the Tour de France to mind.
Its yellow tone points to the leader’s jersey, but the execution avoids becoming costume-like.
Silver chronograph counters sit inside Breitling’s signature rounded-square “squircle” layout, giving the dial a period-correct rhythm without making it feel like a museum piece.
Super-LumiNova on the hour and minute hands adds practical legibility, which matters on a watch that’s still intended to be worn rather than simply collected.
The tachymeter scale gets one of the watch’s more personal touches, with “Eddy Merckx” replacing the usual “Units Per Hour” text in a tangerine-toned accent.
His signature appears at six o’clock, while the caseback carries “Eddy Merckx Tribute” and “One of 525”.

The B01 movement gives the tribute proper weight
Inside is the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B01, the brand’s automatic chronograph movement with a column wheel and vertical clutch.
It is COSC-certified and offers a 70-hour power reserve, making the watch more than a commemorative dial treatment.
The movement layout delivers hours, minutes, small seconds and chronograph functions, keeping the watch firmly within the mechanical chronograph tradition that defines the Top Time line.
Breitling is offering the model on either a black perforated calfskin leather strap with white stitching or a stainless steel mesh bracelet.
Both options suit the watch’s vintage-leaning character, though the leather strap gives the yellow dial a sharper racing feel.
