Breguet’s Tradition Tourbillon 7047 has always been one of the brand’s most architectural watches, less a dialed timepiece than a miniature mechanical landscape.
Its latest form sharpens that identity with platinum, glacier blue surfaces and Bleu de France components, placing the tourbillon and fusee-and-chain system at the visual centre of the watch.
Limited to 25 pieces, the new reference 7047PT/YY/5ZU SL sits firmly in Breguet’s high-complication territory.

A blue architectural take on the Tradition 7047
The Tradition collection is built around exposed construction, and this edition leans into that idea with a two-tone blue movement treatment.
The mainplate, visible from both the front and through the sapphire caseback, is finished in glacier blue with a sandblasted texture.
Against it, the bridges, barrel and large fusee bridge are rendered in Bleu de France, a deep proprietary shade reserved by Breguet for select high-end creations.
The colour treatment reaches beyond the obvious components.
The titanium one-minute tourbillon cage is also finished in Bleu de France, as is the 77-link section of the chain assembly.
Breguet has even replaced the usual ruby-red jewel on the tourbillon bar with a blue spinel, while retaining functional jewels elsewhere for the movement’s working surfaces.
Tourbillon and fusee-and-chain engineering
The 7047 combines two historic approaches to rate stability, both presented in a very contemporary mechanical language.
The tourbillon, patented by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1801, places the regulating organ inside a rotating cage to counter positional errors.
The fusee-and-chain transmission works differently, addressing the changing force delivered by the mainspring as it unwinds.
When the mainspring is fully wound, the chain pulls from the smaller upper section of the cone-shaped fusee.
As the barrel loses tension, the chain moves toward the wider base, helping smooth out the delivery of torque to the escapement.
In the Calibre 569, that chain is assembled by hand and is engineered to withstand a tensile force of 6 kilograms, an impressive figure given the scale of the mechanism.
The movement runs at 2.5 Hz, or 18,000 vibrations per hour, and offers a 55-hour power reserve.
Its inverted in-line lever escapement uses silicon horns, while the Breguet balance spring is also silicon, bringing improved resistance to magnetic fields and supporting stable timekeeping.
Grand Feu enamel and Breguet signatures
The off-centred time display at 7 o’clock is made from 18K palladium gold and finished with Grand Feu enamel in Bleu de France.
For the first time on this model, Breguet uses Arabic numerals on the chapter ring instead of Roman numerals.
The hands are rhodium-plated 18K gold in the familiar Breguet style, keeping the display recognisably tied to the manufacture’s classical vocabulary.
The enamel dial also carries Breguet’s secret signature, hand-engraved with a historic pantograph technique.
At 10 o’clock, a patented power reserve display uses a reducer differential to show the remaining autonomy directly on the barrel drum.
The caseback includes the inscription “Brevet Du 7 Messidor An 9”, referring to the date in the French Republican calendar when Breguet received the tourbillon patent, corresponding to June 26, 1801.

The 41 mm platinum case gives the watch appropriate presence, especially with a 16 mm thickness that reflects the depth of its exposed architecture.
A double anti-reflective coating is used on the front sapphire crystal, while the caseback sapphire receives a single coating.
The Bleu de France rubber strap with glacier blue stitching is a modern choice for a platinum tourbillon, and it suits the watch’s technical character better than a purely formal strap would.
For collectors, the appeal here is not simply rarity, though 25 pieces is a narrow run.
