Bovet’s Récital 32 Pairs a Pusher-Set GMT With a Flying Tourbillon

Bovet doesn’t usually approach travel watches with restraint, and the Récital 32 keeps that tradition intact while making the complication easier to live with.

The new model is the brand’s first true GMT, but it arrives with the kind of theatrical mechanics Bovet collectors expect, including an elevated flying tourbillon and a 10-day power reserve.

It also lands in a more wearable 42mm case, which matters for a watch carrying this much architecture above and below the dial.

The Récital 32 places local and home time together in an off-centred sub-dial at noon, giving the travel function a clear visual hierarchy without hiding the movement underneath.

Local time is read on the outer blue lacquered track with two hands, while the white 24-hour ring carries the independent second time zone indication.

At the centre of that domed display is a stylised hand-painted day and night indication, a small artistic flourish that feels very much in keeping with Bovet’s house language.

The dial itself is openworked, so the practical travel display shares the stage with the flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock, the cylindrical power reserve display at 9 o’clock and the visible hand-finished movement architecture.

The left-side pusher is the clever part

The defining feature is the way the second time zone is adjusted.

Rather than relying on crown manipulation for the GMT indication, Bovet uses a pusher on the left flank of the case to move the independent second time zone hand forward in one-hour steps.

It’s a simple idea with real usability value, especially for a watch with this much mechanical complexity.

The sapphire cabochon crown remains responsible for setting local time, while the pusher keeps the travel adjustment quick, separate and less likely to interfere with the primary time display.

That separation also reduces unnecessary use of the winding stem, a practical consideration on a high-complication manual-wind piece.

Ten days of autonomy from an in-house calibre

The manual-winding movement is built from 375 components and delivers a 10-day power reserve from a single barrel.

For a watch with a flying tourbillon and travel-time functionality, that extended reserve gives the Récital 32 a useful sense of independence.

Bovet’s patented miniature 3D spherical differential helps reduce winding effort by duplicating each winding action, addressing the usual drawback of long-reserve manual watches.

The flying tourbillon is deliberately raised above the movement plate rather than sitting flush with it, which gives the lower half of the dial greater depth.

A panoramic box sapphire crystal protects the display and improves the viewing angle, letting the elevated construction read as architecture rather than decoration.

Finishing, case metals and production

The Récital 32 is available in polished titanium or 18k red gold, both in 42mm cases and both paired with a rubber strap.

The more contemporary strap choice suits the openworked dial, particularly in titanium, where the watch leans into a sharper technical character.

Finishing remains central to the proposition.

The plates and bridges are hand-engraved, hand-bevelled and mirror-polished, with the engraving alone requiring 15 hours of work.

Through the caseback, the movement reveals Bovet’s new étoiles carées square-star engraving motif.

The brand’s high level of vertical integration is also part of the story, with the case and movement made in-house, along with components including the hairspring.
