ArtyA Sharpens the Purity Tourbillon with a Sapphire Sport Edition

ArtyA has always treated sapphire as more than a display window.

With the Purity Tourbillon Sport Edition, the Geneva independent pushes its transparent watchmaking language into a more vivid, wearable direction, pairing a fully open tourbillon calibre with interchangeable colour accents and matching straps.

It’s still a highly technical, highly limited piece, but the mood is less museum cabinet and more personal object.

A Wavy sapphire case with a changeable colour code

The Purity Tourbillon Sport Edition is built around ArtyA’s 44mm Wavy case, cut from Absolute Sapphire and shaped with curved surfaces that give the watch its sculptural profile.

That transparency is central to the whole idea, opening the movement from the front, back and flanks rather than simply displaying it through a caseback.

The construction includes a sapphire crown, a screwed sapphire display back and 30 metres of water resistance.

The sportier character comes through the coloured caseback gaskets, which are visible through the sapphire case and can be selected in Deep Red, Luminous Orange, Electric Turquoise or Deep Blue.

Each watch is supplied on an integrated strap matched to the chosen colour theme, and both the strap and gasket can be changed through authorised ArtyA retailers.

The movement becomes the dial

There’s no conventional dial here, which is exactly the point.

The fully skeletonised movement is the visual structure of the watch, with a laser-engraved chapter ring around the outer edge and sword-shaped hands at the centre for the hours and minutes.

Compared with earlier Purity Tourbillon pieces, the Sport Edition adds central seconds, a small but meaningful change that brings more motion to an already animated layout.

The left side is dominated by an oversized 18mm flying tourbillon completing one rotation every 60 seconds.

On the right, the twin parallel barrels remain fully exposed, adding depth and balance to the asymmetric architecture.

The PUR-T1 calibre keeps the spectacle mechanical

Inside is the manual-winding ArtyA manufacture calibre PUR-T1, developed with Telos and designed from the outset as an open-worked mechanism.

The movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a 70-hour power reserve from its double parallel barrels.

Finishing remains a significant part of the appeal, with pronounced hand-polished bevels on the skeletonised bridges and engraved decoration on the barrels.

It’s the kind of calibre that’s meant to be read in layers rather than glanced at, with the tourbillon, barrels, hands and chapter ring each occupying a clearly defined zone.

It takes ArtyA’s sapphire-cased tourbillon language and gives it a sharper, more customisable edge without hiding the mechanical theatre that defines the collection.
