For the new Perpetual Moon 41.5 Steel “Colours of the Moon” collection, the brand gives its signature astronomical watch a more contemporary footing with stainless steel cases and three richly coloured interpretations of lunar light.
Each version is limited to 18 pieces, with the same large moon display, luminous celestial detailing and in-house hand-wound calibre that define the collection.

A steel case changes the character
The move to stainless steel gives the Perpetual Moon a different kind of presence.
The collection has often leaned into precious metals, but the polished 41.5mm steel case brings a cooler, more versatile frame around one of Arnold & Son’s most recognisable displays.
At 11.67mm thick, it remains relatively slim for a watch with this much visual depth.
A domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating protects the dial, while a sapphire caseback leaves the hand-wound movement visible.
Water resistance is rated to 30 metres, which keeps the watch firmly in dress and daily-wear territory rather than sports-watch use.
Three lunar moods in mother-of-pearl
The “Colours of the Moon” editions are built around three celestial references.
Blue Moon evokes the uncommon occurrence of a second full moon within a season, as well as the cool tones that can appear when atmospheric particles affect how moonlight is seen.
Golden Moon takes its cue from the warm amber glow of the moon when it sits low near the horizon.
Red Moon refers to the coppery hue visible during a total lunar eclipse, the phenomenon often described as a Blood Moon.
The dials and surrounding night skies are made from mother-of-pearl treated through a controlled Physical Vapour Deposition process.
Depending on the reference, the dial is black, blue or green, retaining the organic iridescence of the material while adding stronger colour saturation.
The moon itself is rendered in coloured mother-of-pearl and dominates the upper half of the dial.
Super-LumiNova beneath the moon disc allows it to glow softly in low light, turning the display into something closer to a miniature nocturnal scene than a conventional complication.
Hand-painted depictions of Cassiopeia and Ursa Major complete the sky, also using luminescent material.
The A&S1512 keeps the lunar display precise
Inside the watch is Arnold & Son’s in-house calibre A&S1512, a manual-winding movement developed for the Perpetual Moon line.
It runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a 90-hour power reserve, giving the wearer nearly four days between full winds.
The movement is finished with radiating Côtes de Genève, polished bevels, circular graining and blued screws.
A secondary moon-phase indication on the back helps with accurate adjustment of the complication.
The moon-phase mechanism is engineered for long-term precision, requiring correction only after many years of continuous running.
