VOXEL enters independent watchmaking with a first piece that doesn’t try to look like everyone else’s steel sports watch.
The Meridion VX01-E, debuting at Geneva Watch Days, combines a sharp industrial case language with a proprietary 12/24-hour jumping display that changes the dial’s hour scale between daytime and nighttime modes.
It’s an ambitious opening move from French creative director Thibault Luc and Swiss micro-engineer Bruno Herbet, whose background spans movement development and prototyping.

A debut built around a changing hour scale
The Meridion VX01-E’s defining feature is its 12/24-hour jumping display, a custom complication designed to flip the watch between AM and PM reading modes.
At 1pm, the visible hour numerals change in a single jump from the 1 to 12 scale to the 13 to 24 scale.
At 1am, the display jumps back again.
VOXEL doesn’t show every numeral at once, instead alternating between Arabic numerals and dot markers, with the even numbers carrying the display.
The hour apertures are cut as a mix of circles and diamonds, with diamond shapes at the cardinal positions.
It’s a small mechanical idea with a strong visual payoff, giving the watch a dial that changes character twice a day without becoming a full digital or wandering-hour concept.
Circles, diamonds and a deliberately angular case
The dial leans heavily into contrast.
A sunray-brushed peripheral ring frames a grained central disc, while a crosshair motif cuts through the centre with straight lines and hard geometry.
The Meridion VX01-E is offered in three dial colours, with charcoal grey, electric blue and silver star versions each giving the architecture a different temperament.
That tension between round and angular forms continues into the case.
The bezel has a circular inner edge around the dial, but its outer perimeter forms an irregular decagon with ten straight sections of varied length.
Vertical brushing across the bezel faces makes those planes more pronounced, while the underlying case stays smoother and more rounded.
The 904L stainless steel case measures 41.4mm across and 12.2mm thick including the crystal, putting it in practical daily-wear territory rather than concept-watch excess.
The Newton calibre and the twin-window caseback
Inside, VOXEL uses the Swiss automatic Soprod Newton P092 as the base movement.
The proprietary display is achieved through a custom module mounted on that calibre, which offers a 44-hour power reserve.
The rear view is more distinctive than a conventional full exhibition back.
A screw-in Grade 5 titanium caseback carries two smoked glass windows, giving a partial view of the rotor and the prominently positioned balance wheel.
The layout brings a slightly utilitarian, bulkhead-like feel to the watch, which suits the VX01-E’s broader mix of micro-engineering and industrial design.
Limited numbers and wearable options
The Meridion VX01-E is limited to 300 pieces in total.
Production is split between 120 examples in charcoal grey, 120 in electric blue and 60 in silver star.
Buyers can choose an Alcantara leather strap offered in six colours or a 904L stainless steel mono-link bracelet.
The bracelet pushes the watch closer to a 1970s-style integrated-sports silhouette, while the strap should soften some of the case’s more assertive geometry.
A 120-metre water resistance rating also gives the watch a useful practical edge, especially for collectors who want an independent piece that can handle regular wear.
