Rado Captain Cook x European Cricket Brings Match-Day Detail to a 43mm Diver

Rado’s Captain Cook has become one of the brand’s most adaptable modern watches, shifting comfortably between vintage-leaning dive watch and contemporary sports piece.

The new Captain Cook x European Cricket Special Edition takes that flexibility into a different arena, adding cricket references without turning the watch into a novelty object.

It’s a 43mm stainless steel diver with 300 metres of water resistance, a blue ceramic bezel and enough strap options to move from match day to daily wear.

The dial is where the partnership is handled most clearly, though Rado has kept the details relatively measured.

Finished in a blue gradient tied to European Cricket’s visual identity, the layout depicts a cricket pitch from above rather than relying on overt logos or slogans.

Above the applied Rado wordmark, three gold-coloured dots nod to the three stumps of a wicket.

The brand’s rotating anchor emblem appears against a red background, a small reference to the colour of a traditional leather cricket ball.

Rado also uses the minute track to echo the stitched seam of a cricket ball, while the seconds hand is finished with a matching red tip.

Applied yellow gold-coloured indices and broad Captain Cook hands are filled with white Super-LumiNova, keeping the watch within familiar sports-watch territory despite the themed execution.

The watch uses the established 43mm stainless steel Captain Cook case, with a 49.8mm lug-to-lug measurement and a thickness of 16.2mm.

Its polished case is paired with a yellow gold PVD-coated rotating bezel, fitted with one of Rado’s blue high-tech ceramic inserts.

The bezel markings are laser engraved and finished in a gold-coloured tone, giving the watch a brighter, more celebratory character than a standard steel-and-blue diver.

A screw-down crown, also treated in gold PVD, supports the 300-metre water resistance, while a box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating completes the front of the watch.

The caseback carries a special engraving reading “Official Timing Partner European Cricket,” making the connection more explicit on the wrist’s quieter side.

R763 movement and three wearing options

Inside is Rado’s automatic calibre R763, a Swatch Group movement from the ETA C07.611 Powermatic 80 family.

It runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers an 80-hour power reserve, a practical figure for anyone rotating watches through the week.

The movement is fitted with a Nivachron hairspring for improved resistance to magnetism, and Rado states that it is regulated beyond standard testing requirements with adjustments in up to five positions.

The Captain Cook x European Cricket Special Edition is supplied on a stainless steel bracelet with yellow gold PVD-coated centre links and a titanium folding clasp.

Rado also includes a dark blue NATO-style textile strap and a black rubber strap, both fitted with matching gold-coloured hardware.

A dedicated pouch is included so all three strap options can be kept together, which suits the watch’s practical, travel-friendly character.
