The America’s Cup heads to Naples in 2027, marking the first time the historic sailing contest will be staged in Italy.
Panerai is meeting that moment with two new Luminor Luna Rossa models tied to the Italian challenger team, each taking a different view of life around the race.
One is a 44mm chronograph with regatta-minded timing hardware, while the other is a more compact GMT aimed at travellers following the action ashore.

Both models use stainless steel cases with polished bezels and sun-brushed silver dials, giving the watches a sharper, more architectural feel than the darker blue Luna Rossa GMT already in the collection.
The red accents are sparing rather than decorative.
On the chronograph they appear on the timing hands, while the GMT uses its additional hand as the key Luna Rossa cue, complete with a tip shaped after the sails of the team’s yacht.
The 44mm chronograph is built around race timing
The Luminor Luna Rossa Chrono PAM01768 is the more overtly sporting of the pair.
Its 44mm stainless steel case keeps the familiar cushion profile and Panerai’s crown-protecting locking bridge at 3 o’clock, which moves the chronograph pushers to 8 and 10 o’clock.
The dial layout is practical and balanced, with a central chronograph seconds hand, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and running seconds at 9 o’clock.
Both subdials are finished with azurage, a concentric engraved pattern that adds texture without disturbing the dial’s largely monochrome character.
A tachymeter scale sits on the flange, offering a way to calculate average speed over a known distance.
That’s a fitting inclusion for a watch tied to competitive sailing, even if its 100-metre water resistance makes it more of a deck instrument than a dive watch.
Inside is Panerai’s automatic P.9210 calibre, running at 4 Hz with a 42-hour power reserve.
The steel caseback is closed and numbered, reflecting the watch’s 500-piece limited production.
Panerai supplies the Chrono with two strap options, including a black rubber strap and a grey textile Velcro strap with a red Luna Rossa stripe.
The Velcro option is a first for the collaboration and suits the watch’s intended fast-adjustment character.
The 40mm GMT is the travel companion of the pair
The Luminor Luna Rossa GMT PAM01791 takes a quieter route.
At 40mm, it’s notably more approachable on the wrist than the chronograph and frames the Luna Rossa connection through travel rather than timing.
The GMT function is handled by a 12-hour hand, paired with a date window at 3 o’clock and small seconds on an azurage-finished subdial.
It’s a natural configuration for anyone heading to Italy for the races or simply wanting a sport watch with a second time zone.
This is also the first Luna Rossa model to be fitted with a stainless steel bracelet.
That decision moves the watch away from a purely performance-coded rubber or fabric setup and makes it easier to imagine as an everyday Luminor.
The PAM01791 uses Panerai’s automatic P.900/GMT calibre, which offers a 72-hour power reserve and stop-seconds functionality.
Unlike the Chrono, it has an exhibition caseback, revealing the movement and its partially skeletonised brushed rotor.
The GMT is not limited and joins Panerai’s permanent Luna Rossa line.
Its £9,600 price positions it just below the limited chronograph, with the steel bracelet accounting for its premium over the existing blue Luna Rossa GMT PAM01404.
