Konstantin Chaykin Turns Atomic Heart’s Ballerina Twins Into Wristmon Watches

Konstantin Chaykin has never treated the watch dial as a quiet background, and his latest Wristmon release pushes that idea into gaming culture.

The new Atomic Heart Ballerina Twins translate two of the game’s most recognisable robotic figures into a pair of mechanical character watches, complete with rotating time displays and an oversized moon phase.

They’re strange, theatrical and technically involved, which is exactly the territory where Chaykin’s work tends to feel most at home.

Atomic Heart enters the Wristmon universe

The Ballerina Twins come from Mundfish’s Atomic Heart, a first-person shooter set in an alternate 1955 Soviet Union where robotics, ambition and catastrophe collide.

Within the game, the two towering ballerina robots serve as bodyguards to scientist Dmitry Sechenov, with movement inspired by dancers from the Bolshoi Theatre.

That mix of Soviet-futurist imagery, ballet and machine menace gives Chaykin unusually rich material to work with.

Rather than simply printing a character on the dial, the watchmaker has folded the Twins into the mechanics of the display, continuing the expressive approach that defines the Wristmon series.

Two characters, two dial personalities

The release is split into Left Twin and Right Twin versions, each housed in a 40mm titanium case measuring 12.9mm thick.

The Left Twin pairs a black figure with a deep red setting, while the Right Twin uses a silver figure against graphite with gold-coloured guilloché elements for the cropped cardigan.

Time is shown through rotating discs in the lower portion of the dial, positioned within the Twins’ chests.

Two synthetic ruby elements act as the hour and minute pointers, a small but effective flourish that suits the character-watch format without making the display feel like a novelty prop.

Above, the robot’s face becomes a large moon-phase display under its own 10.1mm sapphire crystal.

A synthetic ruby star and gold-plated braid sit above the moon phase, while the Konstantin Chaykin logo is placed near the neck like a pendant.

The dial work differs between the pair, using abrasive blasting, lacquered relief and guilloché to give each Twin its own visual rhythm.

On the Left Twin, the lower dial carries a fan-like interpretation of grain d’orge, while the Right Twin uses radiating lines that spread downward from behind the head.

A modified automatic calibre with a character display

Inside is the automatic K.18-25 calibre, which uses the La Joux-Perret G200 architecture in an exclusive modification for Konstantin Chaykin.

The important addition is Chaykin’s own display module, which adds 68 components to make the character-driven time and moon-phase layout work.

The movement runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 68-hour power reserve.

It’s a practical engine beneath a deliberately theatrical dial, which is often the balance Chaykin strikes best.
