Kollokium Projekt 02 Variant C Cooler Waters Brings a Sea-Blue Topographical Dial

Kollokium has never behaved like a conventional watch company, which is exactly why its watches tend to land with a bit more intrigue than the usual seasonal colour change.

The Projekt 02 Variant C “Cooler Waters” edition takes the platform’s sculptural dial concept into brighter territory, using stacked, hand-painted plates to create a miniature topographical seascape on the wrist.

It’s a summer-facing watch in the most literal sense, but there’s more going on here than a turquoise palette and a good lume shot.

Kollokium was founded in 2020 by Manuel Emch, Barth Nussbaumer and Amr Sindis as a project-based watchmaking platform rather than a traditional brand with a fixed design doctrine.

That distinction matters here, because the Projekt 02 doesn’t lean on heritage cues or familiar vintage codes.

Its dial is the main event, built from 67 separate plates stacked into nine visible layers to echo the relief lines and depth gradients of hypsometric maps.

For Cooler Waters, the construction is treated with a vertical gradient that moves from cool white at the highest points to vivid turquoise in the lower recesses.

The effect is part map, part aerial view of surf, with black outlines around the metal contours adding definition to each ridge.

Blue-emission Super-LumiNova is integrated into the lacquer, so the dial keeps its layered personality after dark rather than becoming a flat glowing surface.

The white hour and minute hands are also filled with blue Super-LumiNova, while the central seconds hand carries a bent triangle counterweight.

The compact steel case keeps the drama contained

The case is made from die-cast 316L steel and uses a monobloc construction with integrated lugs and bezel.

At 39.5mm across, it sits in a wearable zone, while the case height is listed at just 5.9mm without the crystal.

The full height rises to 12.4mm once the tall glassbox sapphire is included, and that crystal is crucial to the watch’s character.

It gives the dial room to be viewed from above and from the side, turning the stacked construction into something more architectural than decorative.

The valve-style crown adds a mechanical, slightly offbeat note, while the relief “K,P–no. 02” marking on the case flank keeps overt branding restrained.

Water resistance is rated to 50 metres, which suits the aquatic visual language without pretending the watch is a full dive instrument.

Movement, strap and release timing

Inside is the La Joux-Perret G101, an automatic calibre running at 4Hz with 24 jewels and an approximate 68-hour power reserve.

It’s a pragmatic choice for a watch that puts most of its expressive energy into the case and dial rather than movement theatrics.

The movement is fitted with an unbranded unidirectional rotor and displays hours, minutes and central seconds.

The watch is paired with a turquoise single-piece elastic textile strap and a hook buckle in die-cast steel, keeping the fit casual and in tune with the dial.

Availability opens to subscribers on Monday, 1 June 2026 via kollokium.com, followed by public access on Tuesday, 2 June at 14:00 CET.

Deliveries are scheduled between 3 June and 15 June 2026.
