Johnnie Walker Blue Label is leaning into India’s festive calendar with a new limited-edition expression made specifically for the season.
The Indian Festive Blend brings together rare Scotch whisky craft, Indian culinary cues and the design sensibility of Rahul Mishra, whose collaboration with the house now enters its second year.
It’s a release built around celebration, but its most interesting move is more precise than decorative: a flavour profile designed to sit naturally alongside the richness, spice and aromatic complexity of Indian cuisine.

A Blue Label expression tuned to India’s festive table
The Indian Festive Blend has been created by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Dr Emma Walker using whiskies from the brand’s reserves of more than 10 million aging casks.
For Blue Label, Johnnie Walker considers only one in every 10,000 casks to have the depth of flavour required, and that rarity remains central to the identity of this new expression.
What separates this release from a standard seasonal presentation is the way flavour has been approached.
Rather than simply dressing the bottle for the occasion, the whisky has been developed to complement the balance found across Indian cooking, where heat, sweetness, fragrance and texture often work in close conversation.
Dr Emma Walker describes the idea as one of harmony rather than volume.
“I was captivated by the artistry of Indian cuisine, the way chefs balance bold spice with harmony, elegance and depth,” she says. “That sense of balance became my inspiration for this special Blue Label blend.”
Cardamom, saffron and a quieter thread of smoke
The tasting profile is rich in festive cues without losing the recognisable Blue Label character.
Johnnie Walker describes layers of fragrant cardamom and saffron, delicate rosewater and bright citrus, followed by honeyed richness, chocolate-dipped fruit, warm spice and a gentle wisp of smoke.
That combination places the whisky close to the sensory language of an Indian celebration, but it also keeps the profile within the polished, composed frame expected of Blue Label.
Walker’s role here is less about novelty for its own sake and more about making a luxury Scotch whisky feel considered in a specific cultural and culinary setting.
“By layering aromatic notes of cardamom, clove and cinnamon with smooth sweetness and our signature depth of flavour, we’ve created a whisky that complements the richness of India’s festive table while remaining unmistakably Johnnie Walker Blue Label,” she says.
Rahul Mishra brings fashion’s craft language into the bottle story
The release also continues Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s partnership with Rahul Mishra, one of India’s most internationally recognised couturiers.
Mishra’s work is often discussed through craft, handwork and the emotional charge of Indian artistry, which makes him a fitting collaborator for a project built around ritual and celebration rather than simple packaging spectacle.
For Mishra, the festive season is tied to generosity, memory and shared experience.
“The festive season in India is deeply rooted in emotion, generosity and togetherness,” he says. “For me, true luxury carries meaning, preserving craftsmanship while creating lasting memories.”
The collaboration will extend beyond the bottle through a broader festive campaign, with exclusive experiences, immersive activations and curated celebrations planned over the coming months.
Those events are positioned around the meeting point of rare whisky, Indian culture and contemporary design, which has become the larger theme of the partnership.
A seasonal release with a clear sense of place
Limited-edition whisky releases can sometimes feel detached from the place they claim to celebrate, but this one has a sharper brief.
By building the blend around the Indian festive table, Johnnie Walker Blue Label is speaking to drinkers who value Scotch whisky but want it to sit more naturally within local rituals, food and gifting culture.
It will appeal to collectors of Blue Label, design-conscious whisky buyers and hosts looking for a bottle with a stronger cultural connection than a conventional prestige release.
The Indian Festive Blend is ultimately a thoughtful seasonal expression, not because it shouts about rarity, but because it tries to make rarity feel relevant to the moment it’s made for.
