Formex has taken a notable step upmarket with the Aria Manufacture Chronometer, a slim titanium watch built around the brand’s first in-house micro-rotor calibre.
It’s a significant move for a company best known for practical, enthusiast-minded watches, and the Aria keeps that sensibility while adding a more ambitious movement platform.
At 6.9mm thick and 78 grams, it’s also the thinnest and lightest watch Formex has produced to date.

A thinner, lighter Formex in Grade 5 titanium
The Aria Manufacture Chronometer uses a 40mm case made from Grade 5 titanium, an alloy valued for its strength, corrosion resistance and low weight.
Compared with steel, the material cuts weight substantially while retaining the robustness expected from a daily-wear sports watch.
The case is hand-brushed individually, with the finishing following the watch’s curved geometry rather than working against it.
Mirror-polished bevels along the case and bracelet give the design a sharper edge, catching light against the largely matte titanium surfaces.
The integrated bracelet continues the same language, with gently rounded links designed to sit comfortably while keeping the flowing profile intact.
Three matte dials with a more architectural layout
Formex is launching the Aria Manufacture Chronometer in three dial colours, each with a distinct mood rather than a simple change of paint.
Selva Green leans into earthy forest tones and uses amber luminous accents for warmth.
Ardesia Grey takes a cooler route, with a slate-like finish that suits the watch’s titanium construction.
Denso Blue is the darkest of the trio, using a dense matte navy treatment that absorbs light instead of reflecting it back.
All three dials are made from stamped brass with matte lacquer, while the bevelled indices sit on raised platforms for added depth.
The FX01 movement brings micro-rotor engineering to the line
The heart of the Aria is the FX01, Formex’s first in-house calibre, developed in collaboration with Horage.
The automatic movement measures just 2.9mm thick, which helps explain the watch’s unusually slim 6.9mm overall profile.
Its tungsten micro-rotor is designed to deliver improved winding efficiency despite occupying less space than a conventional central rotor.
The calibre offers a 72-hour power reserve, giving it enough autonomy to sit through a weekend without stopping.
Formex has also equipped the movement with a full silicon regulating system, including the hairspring, escape wheel and pallet fork.
Those components bring anti-magnetic properties, corrosion resistance and lower friction compared with traditional steel parts.
A flexible geartrain pinion has been engineered to reduce backlash during time setting, giving the crown a more immediate response when synchronising the seconds.
Each FX01 movement is individually certified by COSC as a chronometer.
